Jesuit college's leader is of a different cloth

Not sure how I feel about that.

One of our local high schools did a seach for Principal a few years back. There were some strong non-Catholic candidates but the board ultimately decided that it would be nearly impossible for someone to be in the top position of the school and not be Catholic. They have many non-Catholic teachers and some non-Catholic administrators but the principal is the “face of the school” and reflects the identity of the school. If the same is true for a university, does this mean that the identity that Loyola Marymount is reflecting is not a Catholic one?

I feel the same way as you do, only you said it better than I could.
 
It’s a sub-optimal solution, but we all have to make the best of what we have, I suppose.
