come on we are having a highly sophisticated discussion between to intellectuals who do not see eye to eye on a certain issue and therefore have agreed to have a debate in an organized and civilized manner. And i will have you know that it would be rude and thus, uncivilized to back out of this debate without having reached some sort of common ground.

Yes, there is a sprinkling of Black African blood in the Jewish people of Jesus’ time, and today. These would be Blacks of the Ethiopian variety who migrated, or were taken as slaves by various more powerful peoples to the north. They contributed to the ethnic pool of the Mediteranean region. You can see evidence of this by examples of kinky haired people throughout the region.

But, to think that Jesus was a Black African, of a more undiluted variety, is merely wishful thinking on the part of some with no historical basis.

For one thing, I’m certain that an African man would have a very low status. Black Africans were undoubtably on the lower rung of society and a Black Jesus would probably not be well received by the people in general. I don’t see it as absurd at all, what difference does it make what color the actor is? How are you certain that “an African man would have a very low status”? The Ark of the Covenent is supposedly in Africa, bought there by the “lost tribe”, there are African Jews. Personally, I find your posting a bit offensive:(

Read this, i myself, being a black man, never really believed in the possiblity of jesus being black, i thought that he was almost certainly olive skinned, middle eastern. But after reading this, every point given makes such perfect sense and there are historical and biblical facts to boot, i actually believe that this is not just possible, but highly likely. I know that the message is more important than the package its delivered in, but if this is true it is astounding to know how the church and basically the whole continent of Europe concealed this fact and corrupted almost the entire world (who believe in jesus) by creating a false image of such an important and influencial figure.

Actually, most historians do not believe that the egyptians were black. There were black egyptain pharoahs, there is no doubt about that, but that is not to say that all of the egyptians were black. For example, the egyptians displayed their neighbors the libyans as having dark red skin, their neighbors the ethiopians as having very black skin, and themselves as having light red skin.

While they were definately african, most wouold probably have had a skin color a bit darker than most north africans of the modern day.

One must remember that ancient egypt was a fairly cosmopolitan place, with semites, ethiopians, libyans, and others all coming and trading and going, even sometimes conquering and taking control of egypt. There was once even a semitic tribe known as the Hyksos who ruled egypt. They were from the northern middle east, and certainly would not have been black.
