Yes, Friard. As JPII says, entrusting is especially a response to the love of a mother.

Here are my two of my other favorite passages from Redemptoris Mater:

"One can say that if Mary’s motherhood of the human race had already been outlined, now it is clearly stated and established. It emerges from the definitive accomplishment of the Redeemer’s Paschal Mystery. The Mother of Christ, who stands at the very center of this mystery-a mystery which embraces each individual and all humanity-is given as mother to every single individual and all mankind.

Great, yes! It clearly tells us of the unique relational bond between The Trinity, Our Lady, Mary, the Church as a whole, and too, each individual member!

Motherhood always establishes a unique and unrepeatable relationship between two people: between mother and child and between child and mother. Even when the same woman is the mother of many children, her personal relationship with each one of them is of the very essence of motherhood. Each child is surrounded in the same way by that maternal love on which are based the child’s development and coming to maturity as a human being.

Can we be too devoted to Our Lady: no. Because no matter how devoted we are to Mary, she is immeasurably more devoted to us. This passage explains why.

Right. Because she is given to us by Christ to be our spiritual mother, she is always immeasurably more devoted to us, as you say, than we could ever be to her.

We can never understand how close to God she is, or how how the Mother of God loves each person.

As Pope Pius 9th says in the bull defining the Immaculate Conception:

"Hence, it is the clear and unanimous opinion of the Fathers that the most glorious Virgin, for whom “he who is mighty has done great things,” was resplendent with such an abundance of heavenly gifts, with such a fullness of grace and with such innocence, that she is an unspeakable miracle of God – indeed, the crown of all miracles and truly the Mother of God; that she approaches as near to God himself as is possible for a created being; and that she is above all men and angels in glory…

"Let all the children of the Catholic Church, who are so very dear to us, hear these words of ours.
