Jesus descended to hell?

I have just been at Religion Classes and part of the decusion was the very thing again.
Our Priest said that the prayer’s were changed to read Decended to the Dead . But the Vatican has said that the wordings are going to return to the actual words from Latin to English.
Therefore the wording of the prayers will return to Decended into Hell.
For in their lanuage that is the meaning not Dead

For Hell in their lanuage didn’t mean what we think of Hell.

So look for in Church’s everywhere the wordings will change on many words in our prayer’s .

If your like me I will go back to what I always did say.

The important thing is to understand what we believe, understand what we are professing. Understanding is a lifelong process of learning that is only completed in eternity. As St. Augustine said, understanding is the reward of faith. We believe so that we may understand. Unbelievers have no understanding. Also, Cardinal Ratzinger has written some good books on Catholic belief. Search Amazon. The idea that Christ also descended to the hell of the damned (as well as the hell or limbo of the saved) is not critical, though possibly not accurate. St. Thomas Aquinas wrote a commentary on the Creed and I’m not sure if he saying Christ “also” descended to the hell of the damned to finalize His dominion and conquest of Satan. Whatever may be the correct interpretation of his commentary, it is most accurate to understand “hell” in the Creed as the abode of the righteous awaiting Christ, and Redemption in the context of Original Sin with its consequences.

If Jesus died and he is god did god die? How can god have always been if he died? Was there a time where there was no god? Or are there more than 1 god like a polytheistic religion?

Did god create everything how about hell? Can he just make people who do not follow him just not exist and vanish? Douse he like to see people suffer so much that he created a place that you can never escape and never be redeemed or forgiven but to burn in for all eternity? Is god a creator of life or death? Is hell life or death?

Is god more likely to forgive us after killing him or his son or Jesus? Why do we need to kill god to go to heaven?

Too many questions for me in one post. So, I will address just your first question. Jesus was both God and man. Two natures in one person. In regard to his human nature, Jesus died but returned to life. In regard to his divine nature, God cannot die. God is eternal, without begining and without end.

What is so complicated? Love Him and follow His Will and you get the grand prize. Walk away from His love and you get eternal doom.

God didn’t HAVE to let us kill his son to forgive us. God needed us to learn (and yes, we can be very hard-headed) how much He loves us. Hence, He gave us His only begotten Son. If someone is willing to give up their only son in order to save us from hell, just think of how much greater the rewards are when we get to heaven?

And regarding “so did Jesus die?” We killed the Man Jesus. His Divinity did not, and can not die. Then, when he was raised from the dead, His Soul and His Body were reunited. When He ascended into Heaven, He went Body and Soul.

It seems that Mary is rather corporeal up there, I believe. I’ve heard it debated whether Elijah and Enoch are, but I don’t think there is a firm teaching on this.

All souls in heaven will be re-united with their bodies after the 2nd Coming, however.

The basis of the assertion that Mary exists corporeally in eternity can be found in the Catholic belief in the Assumption of Mary. We believe that since Mary was chosen as the vessel through which God incarnate (Jesus Christ) was brought into the world - the Ark of the “New Covenant” in Christ - she has been blessed and exalted higher than any other human being conceived through the union of man and woman. Therefore, it is reasonable to assume (and scripturally implied) that God would assume her, body and soul, into heaven as he did her/His Son, Jesus Christ. This is also made possible by the belief of the Immaculate Conception, or that Mary is the only human being conceived of man and woman to be conceived without the stain of sin, to make her a “pure” vessel within which God incarnate could exit eternity and enter into time.

Being the most dignified and holiest of human beings, possessing the greatest amount of grace, and being even greater than the angels in heaven, all because she is uniquely the Mother of God, she was assumed into heaven body and soul.

You have to focus on the fact of two natures in Christ, human and Divine. God assumed human form without ceasing to be God. This teaching is most logical, yet most paradoxical. It is also most complicated. One can study it all his life and never fully understand it.

God’s plan was for Christ to pay mankind’s debt to justice caused by Original Sin through his suffering and crucifixion.

That’s an accurate statement, in my opinion. Joseph is not suffering albeit. He’s reveling in the Beatific vision and quite willing to wait for the 2nd coming when he can be reunited with his glorified body.

This is true, but the difference is the gates of heaven have been opened with the Resurrection and Ascension of Jesus.

Really? Are you sure Catholics teach this? I was not aware that Catholics taught the resurrection has already occurred. This is to happen at the second advent. Do you teach that happened already as well?

No, the Second Coming has yet to occur. We all will know when that happens… trumpets blaring, etc., etc.

But yes, when one dies, after a period of purging, one’s soul goes to heaven if justified. During the 2nd Coming, our souls will be re-united with our bodies and we will all have glorified bodies.

Mary and Jesus are not alone. They are the only people with bodies, as you and I know it. But they are anything but alone. I have no idea how a soul appears in heaven, but I hope to find out very soon!

Animals in heaven? No. They have souls, but not like ours. What do Mary and Jesus eat? I understand Mary is quite fond of trail mix, but I can’t be sure.
