Jesus did not write one letter of Scripture

But they did not canonize the Bible. And they did not write, but reject the New Testament.

And when they learned that Christians used the Septuagint, they rejected that version and replaced it with a so-called “hebrew” version.
Were not Matthew Mark John Peter James and Paul all Jews?

1/3 of Jews at the time of Christ did not reject HIm but accepted Him.

They wrote the Old Testament and then rejected part of what they wrote, the Deuterocanon. They rejected it because Jesus accepted it in the Septuagint version of the Old Testament.

They also rejected the New Testament because it is based on Jesus teachings. And they reject Jesus outright, so they rejected anything to do with Him.
Jews rejected the Deuterocanon because of the Hellenization of Judiasm.

The scriptures are the word of God only in a derivative way. Jesus is the Word of God. He united the divine nature with the human nature. This is the greatest revelation man could recieve. A book does not compare to what Christ actually did. It is only through this communion with God that you can know God. Christ did everything that He came to do.
Man can commune with God through His word. His word is alive and it is powerfull and sharper than any two edge sword. Jesus said His words give life.
It is by chewing gnawing and eating gods word that we have His life in us.

I appreciate the link but I don’t think they answered my questions as to which books were in the septuagint that Jesus used and how we have come to know which books Jesus used.
You are right. Suffice to say that I am satisfied that the Reformers do not use the Septuagint at all. I’m also satisified that Jesus Christ did use some form of the Septuagint based upon the evidence presented in that websited and others.
This is true but in the earlier post you said that:…
My issue with your post(s) is that:
a.) We have no way of knowing what version of the septuagint Jesus used and therefore do not have a way of demonstrating which books were in that version of the septuagint.
That is because, as a Reformer, you don’t accept the authority of the Church. For you to believe anything it must be demonstrated to YOU because you are the sole authority over what you believe.

Whereas, I believe the Church which Jesus established to guide my soul:
Hebrews 13:17
Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.
b.) We have no evidence of the Jews kicking the deuterocanonical books out of what they accepted as the canon of scripture.
Yes we do. Obviously, if they once wrote the Septuagint and then rejected it because it was not written in Hebrew, then they once accepted the canon and then rejected certain books from it.
There are different versions of the LXX and all of them contain different indexes of books. For example the eastern orthodox accept 3 and 4 Maccabees and you will find that these two books were contained in at least one version of the LXX. Obviously neither you or I accept a books canonocity based soley on their inclusion in the LXX.
Exactly. I recognize and accept the Church’s authority over the canon of Scripture. You don’t. You recognize and accept Luther’s authority since it is he who took them out of the Christian version which you now read.
I don’t think the Jews ever accepted the deuteros and I don’t think you will find any evidence of them (the Jews) kicking out the deutero’s in the first few centuries a.d.
You are wrong. The Jews wrote the Septuagint. And the Jews no longer accept the Septuagint. That is evidence enough for me.

I know you seek to affirm your belief, but you are really living in denial. Your faith tradition accepts that which the enemies of Christ accept and reject that which the body of Christ aceepts.

Very good! But the remnant rejected Him and persecuted His Church. Even St. Paul persecuted His Church until he was knocked off his horse.

It is one way, no doubt. But Jesus made with us several Covenant oaths. In these Covenants, we can partake of the life giving grace which only Christ can give.

The Source and Summit of our faith is the Eucharist. It is the quintessential Covenant oath in which we unite ourselves body and soul to the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ.

Therefore the Scriptures say, **
Psalm 34:8**
O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

That is true. But Jesus Christ left His Word in the Traditions which He commanded the Church to teach throughout the world.
I said that in response to the title of the thread.
Directly or indirectly he did write scripture. It is God’s word, and Jesus is God.

Jews rejected the Deuterocanon because of the Hellenization of Judiasm.
In other words, because they were written in Greek. But the fact is that the Greek pagans were converting to the Christian faith. And the Christian faith adopted the Greek Septuagint which Jesus Himself used.

Therefore, the Reformers who reject the books of the Deuterocanon, in so doing, reject the Scriptures which Jesus used and side with Jesus’ enemies.

You keep making this claim but you can’t back it up.

Please tell us exactly which books Jesus used in his septuagint and how you know this?

If simple inclusion in the LXX is what is important, I assume you accept 3 and 4 Maccabees?

By indirectly, you must mean that He inspired Scripture. But the fact is that He did not put pen to paper.

But Jesus did establish Traditions. And the Reformers reject Tradition. Thereby rejecting the teaching of Jesus Christ and the Apostles:
2 Thessalonians 2:15
Therefore, brethren,** stand fast, and hold the ****traditions which ye have been taught, **whether by word, or our epistle.

Exactly what traditions was Paul speaking of?

Luther and Calvin didn’t totally reject tradition. The modern lutheran and reformed denominations subscribe to the Apostles creed, the Nicene creed and the Athanasius (spelling) creed.

You are presuming a Protestant state of mind. I am not Protestant. I accept the teaching of the Catholic Church and the books which the Church accepts.

Again, since you must be your own pope then you must prove for yourself what you believe.

Whereas, it is enough for Catholics to accept the authority of the Church which Scripture calls the Pillar and Foundation of Truth. (1 Tim 3:15).

that’s true. But they did reject the authority of the Church. Otherwise, how could they have left the Church?

How is this user their own pope?
As protestants we proclaim that all man is fallible!
Because he doesn’t recognize the authority of the Church. Therefore, he must make his own decisions as to what version of the Bible to accept, what traditions to keep, what to believe and what not to believe.

All we have to believe in is Christ and what he has done, and live our lives accordingly. The rest are matters of indifference
