Correct, and that is all it implies. It doesn’t imply what happened after, just what didn’t happen prior.

It is in the fact that this young woman, who was about to be married, couldn’t understand how she was going to conceive. It isn’t logical for a woman who was planning normal sexual relation to be confused in the “how” of her pregnancy. She knew how babies were conceived. There is nothing in the angels announcement, prior to her asking “how”, that would indicate that the conception would be anything other than ordinary. There was absolutely no reason for her to suspect that the Holy Spirit would overshadow her. The angel told her this (the Holy spirit would overshadow her) in response to her question! If she had planned on having sex, she never would have asked! She shouldn’t have asked. Had she not asked the angel would have continued on to explain that the Holy Spirit would overshadow her and then you’d have a valid argument, but, since she asked an absolutely absurd question there must have been a reason. It isn’t just filler in Scripture.

Why wouldn’t he? Where does the angel tell him he cannot? Mary is his wife isn’t she? She’s already pregnant, why wouldn’t he have sex with her? Why would he wait until after the birth? There was no reason for him to wait.

Then one day it “clicked”. It was an epiphany. So, don’t be upset you don’t see it. Ask the Holy Spirit for guidance, I’m sure you always do, but ask an extra time.
Let’s go back to the Scripture, Luke, chapter 1 verses 26 – 33.
Read these verses from the perspective of Mary. You’re a young woman about to be wed to Joseph. You understand where and how babies are conceived. You’re a good Jew, you understand the Scriptures. Jews of your time are expecting a king to be born to them. This king is to be human, not God.
As we read let’s ask any questions we would as if we’re Mary. We’ll stop at each question, fair?

I know, but really, when I was told I couldn’t believe it either. I simply believed because the Catholic Church said so. It took a while for me to see the truth. If we can help him see the truth I’ll try to go over it again and again.

This is incorrect. Scripture is not the only thing that tells us anything about Mary. For instance, we know her mother’s name was Anne, not from Scripture but from other contemporaneous writings.

Now, justasking4, just to calm your fears, acknowledging Mary as a perpetual virgin will not make you a Catholic, so relax. All of the fathers of the reformation believed and taught she was a perpetual virgin, they were Protestant even though they believed she was a perpetual virgin. So understanding this truth won’t make you “popeish”.

Since this topic is about Mary having other children would she ask if its ok to have sexual relations with my husband and have other children?

i’m not worried about that. Just because men have beleived something for a long doesn’t mean it was true. The idea of Mary being a perpetural virgin cannot be sustained by the Scriptures, the way people have always looked at marriage or the culture.

Problem with the phrase “full of grace”. A better translation is “highly favored” one.

Good, you’d ask about being favored, Mary had questions and concerns also. Mary was troubled and the angel answered her thoughts.

I can certainly understand her fear and concern, can you? Seems logical, I mean, it isn’t everyday you get a visit from an angel. Pretty impressive.
