Yes, I am quite familiar with this translation. Where in this passage does it ask me to confess the doctrine “Jesus IS God!”?

I would also would like you to note that Yahchanan [John] 1:1 does not say “… and the word was Jesus.”

Yahshua was a spokesman of Father Yahweh’s word in this last time period as Hebrews 1:1-2 makes perfectly clear. Yahshua was not the word of Father Yahweh but, the spokesman of Father Yahweh’s word. Please note the passages from the so called “New Testament” that I have posted in my signature that proves that Yahshua was the spokeman of Father Yahweh’s word.

To Believe “Jesus IS God!” Is To Be Deceived!

Did Yahshua Create?
Lets take things in context shall we? Twhole passage is a precursor to John’s Gospel. So yes, Jesus Christ is very much God.

If we look at the whole, by that meaning from the beginning to the end, the end is at the cross, and the new beginning is after the cross, we shall see from it all: the work of God.

The picture is: God’s love for mankind!

The question is: Will we love Him back?

The crossroads between the old and the new is the “cross”!

God has set the standard (cross/Jesus) [Cross road] upon a hill (Jesus’ government) by which all under heaven may have access to.

Irregardless, of what is said about Him, He still remains the standard and is affected not by what mankind thinks, but by what God did.

What God does can no man alter.

Rev 3:8 I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.

The man entering for us is Jesus, who like us was of little strength because of the flesh, kept God’s word (life) and did not deny His name.(Kept the word till the end)

The word is life: Act 13:46 Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.

** I do not know about the OP (Frank). But I had read this topic somewhere that:

"Jesus is God. God is not Jesus. "

See, How complicated is this subject. The OP may have gone away leaving us in the middle of some serious thinking**.

** SHW, it is alright when Jesus said " baptize in the names of the three Persons of God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit…" But that did not mean that jesus was God. We as Muslims have the name of Muhammad in our kalimah that " there is no God except Allah and Muhammad is the servant and messenge rof Allah." That means name of Muhammad is there but he is described as a humble servant and messenger of Allah. he is not god or Allah.

Same goes for Jesus. The name of Jesus is necessary when his followers invite any one to God. There is no other way to go to God except through Jesus. So name of Jesus has to be there when baptising. But it did not mean that you people make a God out of him. Even Holy spirit should be mentione dbecause that spirit was with Jesus all the time, guiding him and supporting him and that was a link between Jesus and God whom Jesus called the Father.

That word “Father” was out of love and respect only. It was symbolic and parabolic word. Not really to make Jesus the son of God. All people are the children of God spiritually.

All the words are there but Muslims take different meaning and the Catholics take different meaning. Catholics try to take the literal meaning even though those words are symbolic only.

We believe that jesus was the Light, and the way. We believe that jesus was:
  1. the servant of God,
  2. the prophet of God,
  3. The word of God,
  4. The spirit from God,
  5. The good news from God,
  6. The sign of God (means much but not all know about it)
  7. The messenger of God.
  8. The man of God,
  9. The one appointed by God.
  10. The one elected and selected by God.
  11. The true representative of God.
That is all, no more.**
Hello,

Yes! Jesus was and is certainly all of those things. Let me, if i may explain it using a mathematical formula. if A = B and B = C, then A = C also.

So if God = Word and the Word = Flesh then God = Flesh.

John 1: 1-15

"In the beginning was the word and the word was with GOD and the WORD was GOD. (in other words (WORD = GOD). …"AND the word became flesh (JESUS) and dwelt among us. What this clearly states, is that GOD and JESUS are EQUAL.

HAHAHA! Well, I did not want to make him uncomfortable but realized when I first saw the post that I knew that name from somewhere. He used to be active on a Conspiracy Forum I sometimes frequent.

He is pretty active trying to challenge the “Pagan Trinitarians”, ye ol they fight it…" tooth and nail" bit.

I WILL NEVER agree, why exchange Jesus and the truth for a bunch of legalism? However I have to give him credit for endurance. He has been around for years posting these things.

BTW, I have a different name for every board. It is safer that way. Especially in the job market. Never drop clues and never use even a portion of your real name online. It does not take a Rhodes Scholar to find your identity. Your personal religious beliefs should not matter in a job position but to some it does.

I know of companies that will google even your email addy before hiring. I know because they have told me. I almost took a job with a retired Sheriff once. You would be surprised how savvy some are and who hires them to find more personal info.

planten, that does raise questions doesn’t it? The statement is missing a developed trinitarian perspective though. It would be more accurate to state :

Jesus is God. God is not Jesus alone.

I reedited my post so you could see it from another perspective. It has a lot to do with discrimination and how others are able to get around anti-discrimination laws BEFORE they hire.

Not to get this off track however. Sorry…

Understanding of Gods work is key to answering the question, “is Jesus God”.

Gods work:
Father of creation= all there is
Father of recreation = Jesus=new spiritual life
Father of presence = (Holy Spirit) inhibitor of every soul.

Now fit mankind into those three and you will see the one God.

I understood you the first time, so really, I was directing my comments to others.

Yes, and your right, for secrecy is now scarce in this modern age.

Since my questions have not been answered ( ignored? ), I shall leave you all to try to explain to planten and others that Jesus IS God and the Second Person of the Holy Trinity.
God Bless All.

“There ain’t no convincing” if the will to believe, by faith is not there.

Having faith is the key to understanding who Jesus is, and if there is a question about it, than the question should rather be, Know ye the Spirit of God?

1Jo 4:2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:

When it says, “Jesus Christ come” means He was, but now has come in the flesh.

“He was” means He existed before as God, but has come to us in the form of flesh, that by Him (Jesus as God) would have the power, the might to conquer death for us, and the Glory of the Father as Jesus, and seated at the right hand of the Father, meaning ruling as the Father over all mankind.

Jesus came once in the flesh, and again as spirit when we allow the Holy Spirit to inhabit us via a transformation of the heart to new life in Him.

Now, take this for whatever is worth to you, but for me and my House, we will follow the Lord Jesus as “0ur God”.

Blessings, AJ

My questions were ignored too. But I have to agree AJ, there really “ain’t no convincing.”

A funny thing is, you asked my opinion on the “worm wood letters”. I thought of this thread, arguments rarely work and are risky. LOL

BTW, though C S Lewis is controversial , I think he was brilliant and love his use of satire.

**Yes, you seem to be getting closer to your belief system. I made a small mistake. The words were “Jesus is God but God is not Jesus.”

Still quite complicated, contradicting statement. Even if we follow your words, It means that Jesus is God but God is not Jesus alone. Means that Jesus is god beside other god. Or, God is not only Jesus. Jesus alone is not God. Anyway you read it, it creates problem. God is not Jesus alone. It means Jesus is not the only god.

To me, God forbids all such things. That is, you create big problem yourself. Then, instead of retracting your steps, you try to justify it by more complications**.

Maybe this will help. This is part of something I wrote for a paper about there being only one truth, but maybe this will help with the question too about Jesus being God. Unfortunately the footnote numbers didn’t appear when I pasted this, so I wrote in the numbers myself, and that’s why they are there. Hope this helps! =)

All Christians believe in the existence of only one God.1 There are plenty of examples in Scripture where this is pointed out, however this is not a “just cite the bible” paper; should you wish to see at least one, I have included footnotes. The Catholic Church in particular believes that God is in three distinct, all eternal, all equal persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.2 The Church also knows that Jesus is the Son.3 Since Jesus is the Son, then He is God, and God is Jesus.4 Now God does not lie, therefore, whatever he says must be true.5 Thus, when Jesus says in John 14:16 “I am the way, the truth, and the life,” that means Jesus is truth. He just said so. If Jesus is truth and he is God, then logically God equals truth. Since there is only one God, there must be then only one truth. Tie this all together and one can see why Christians/Catholics believe there is only one, objective truth: there is only one God and he said he is truth.

1 “I am the Lord your God, and that there is no other” Joel 2:27
2 “Therefore go, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” Matthew 28:19
3 “He said to them, “The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of men. They will kill him, and after three days he will rise.” Mark 9:31 and as we know, Jesus was betrayed by Judas, and killed, and rose (Easter).
4 “Thomas said to [Jesus], “My Lord and my God!” Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”” (Jesus did not deny Thomas’ exclamation, he acknowledges that Thomas believed Jesus was God) John 20:28-30
5 “God, who does not lie” Titus 1:2
