**Your “Thank Jesus Christ” reminded me of an incident (witnessed by myself.)

There was a Cricket match going on at Portsmouth (England). There were many spectators. There was a drunk sailor in uniform who was swearing too much, some abusive language as he commented and shouted to the players.

“Come on. You *astard. Hit it hard.” “Run you silly man. Run faster.” “catch it you idiot, son of *astard…” I was standing nearby. There was a respectable old lady, well dressed standing near us. She felt very upset about the bad behaviour of that sailor ( a petty officer). She made faces of disapproval a few times without saying anything.

The sailor noticed that the lady did not like his bad behaviour. So the sailor said " Sorry ma’am." The lady said “Thank you.”

The sailor shouted at the lady “Don’t thank me. Thank Jesus Christ.” and he started the same old abusive comments.**
Was Mary’sgirls making an abusive comment? 🤷

has any humanbeing ever said that they had the power to lay down their life and the same power to take it back up again? No man has the power to take their life back up again only God does, yet here in the gospel written by StJohn10;18 we have the man Jesus saying just that"No one takes it from me, but i lay it down of myself. I have the power to lay it down, and I have the power to take it back up again."
:)any thoughts on what Jesus meant when He said “…and I have the power to take it back up again”

. ( Holy spirit is also a humble servant, messenger, angel, of God).
The gospel written by St.Luke 135" And the angel answered and said to her ‘The Holy Spirit shall come upon thee and the power of the Most High shall overshadow thee;…’…’ … If the Holy Spirit is but a messanger, what message is it bringing to Mary? Also the angles contiues…"…the Holy One to born shall be called the Son of God."Do men become holy or are they born Holy?

Jesus is God the Son in an undivided Trinity. So our Lord is not a fraction. Jesus is the Son of the living God.

i got sucked on that one thanks for the reminder to read(understand) the words that are written.

I know… I accidentally voted “All of the Above” when, had I taken a closer look, I would have realized my mistake… :sad_yes:
Yes. At first glance I was thinking Jesus is one divine Person of three Persons in the Holy Trinity. But at second thought the Trinity is an undivided unity, so the use of a fraction is inappropriate. Planten and the OP may have meant Catholics believe in three divine Persons in one God, which is true, and not in three Gods co-existing together as separate entities (tritheism) like the Mormons do. In this case the fraction could apply to separate parts of the Trinity. Our traditional hymn came to mind when I examined the poll.

“Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is one Lord!”
Deuteronomy 6, 4

Thanks also to you heiscominginthe for honestly preaching your faith to me. You have replied and it will remain with me and I shall consider it in future. You have my points with you and I have your replies. Well and good. Well done heiscominginthe. Keep thinking. I will do the same about your kindness.
You are more then welcome. I believe our entire lives as believers are spent in growing in Christ, in faith. And even though we are not all at the same spiritual levels, the food we gather today will feed us on the morrow.

It has been a pleasure conversing the Word with you my friend.

I think what planten was aiming at is …that he is the sailor in this story…
Thanks fbl9, But God forbids. Why would I be swearing at all? Why would I be shouting at the players?. Why would I be drunk?

Why would I say to the lady “Don’t thank me. Thank Jesus Christ.”??
I hope I have broken the spell.

the sailor, didn’t change his ways after saying what he said to the lady, just as you have yet to change your ways…that’s how i saw it planten,i guess i should have put a disclaimer in that post to this effect.sorry if you took it as an offence to your character,i surely did not intend to attack your character.

Now could you try tackling just what Jesus meant when He said He had the power to take His life back up again.🙂

Yes, I agree with you ‘Jesus is God’. He have lot of power to control human activities.

**There is no attack or offence or bad feeling. Jesus having the power to take it up again is not a difficult matter to explain. But I will not do it. Because every word of bible is not reliable.

Changes are being made in the bible since time immemorial, even today. So what is the use of explaining anything? Every word is being changed in different English versions of the bible to suit the purpose of the church.
So what is the use of discussing such an unstable thing?

Because I do not believe that Jesus die don the cross so it would be useless for me to discuss the matter of his taking up his life again. I hope you understand my difficulty. Other wise I respect and believe most of the words spoken by Jesus, as wise and true.

This is where your problem is planten. For if you did choose to believe that God the Father sent his Son down to accomplish what no mortal man could do, living a life without sin, thus giving mankind a way of hope by believing in his heart and confessing unto salvation, you world would be completely changed and for the first time in your life you would see the world for what it truly is, against God. For if you were to believe, a change would occur in your heart that goes way beyond human understanding, for your heart would be circumcised and you would be born again, become alive again in your spirit through the Son of God.

So I ask you as one who loves you to forget all that you have been taught. Pray the Lord open your eyes to his truth and not that of the world. And if you truly mean it, he will reveal himself to you through his Son. For no man cometh unto the Father, but through the Son.

good there are no ill feelings between us:cool:

do have in your writings (Koran?) these words of Jesus “i have the power to take it back up again”? How about when the angel greeted Mary and said “…:the Holy One to born…”
do you beleive men are born holy or are they born then later become holy?

So what is the use of discussing such an unstable thing? That’s why you get a Catholic Bible that has been approved by the Church. That way you know you’re not getting something so “unstable”.

Because I do not believe that Jesus die don the cross so it would be useless for me to discuss the matter of his taking up his life again. I hope you understand my difficulty. I think I do. But, planten, there are books other than the Bible that claim Jesus died on the cross. Historical records claim it too. Other wise I respect and believe most of the words spoken by Jesus, as wise and true. That’s good, but it will not get you into heaven. Only love for God and redemption from sin can do that.
