Jesus is God?

I am confused on this issue. I grew up catholic and never knew this. For the past few years I have been very confused. I “have” read the scripture and dont see any proof. Am I missing something? What makes you believe?

Yes, Jesus is God. I hope you only misunderstood, otherwise you probably had bad catechists which isn’t good at all!

There is no proof, that is why they call it belief by faith.
 
Jesus is God because He said He is God (“Before Abraham was, I AM”) and He proved He is God by doing things only God can do: forgiving sins, raising the dead, multiplying bread, etc.

HIndu’s believe without question, that Vishnu is God.

Muslims do not believe that Jesus is God, yet they know all of these things that Christians attribute to him.

So, just because Jesus claimed to be God and a Holy Book claims he is God, does not mean he is God.

You can only believe that Christ is God, through faith that it is the truth.

Seriously, I have just been struggling to find answers over the last 3 years.
Someone said it was “faith”, but what evidence gives you that “faith”?

I have read the gospels and it doesn’t say he is God as clearly as you have, where does it say this?

Well people convert from christian to Islam, from Islam to Christianity, from Hindu to Islam etc, what makes their experience any different?
Cant they all be right? If you were born in another country chances are you would not be catholic, so what makes catholic so right?

You’re using a fallacy, Jastor. So your argument against the extraordinary evidence is invalid. Can you come up with a better argument?
 
Read John: 17,1-26. Jesus is praying to the Father, and it is clear the relationship between the Father and Jesus, the Son. Jesus’s words in this prayer are irrefutable proof that He is the Son of God. Of, course, belief in this relies on the assumption that you believe in the Trinity. If you reject the Trinity, though, it won’t help you much, I’m afraid.
 
Jastor, the question of Jesus being the incarnation of God that you ask is one that someone who has never heard of Christianity might ask.

The question for why Catholics might be right is one that to answer properly, you will have to do much study of history, science, theology as well as reflection with God in order to give you an answer.

Questions you might ask are - is there a God ? Why ?
Has God interferred with human history ? Why ?
What is the credible basis for God ‘interferring’ with human history ?
Is God acting today in the world ? How ? why ? where ? for what purpose ?
What has been the legacy of God acting in human history ?

You might want to look at the major religions with the above questions in mind and then decide which one makes more sense to you and go from there.

In western countries there is a lot of education and freedom of thought.
Unfortunately with that there is a subtle but still large media campaign against Christianity. Many born in those Christians lands have their faith challenged very strongly. Many don’t just go along with it because that is what they are supposed to do.

They judge it very carefully against a similar set of questions as above before coming to their conclusion.

Faith is what you need, when faced with a lack of evidence.
 
During the Last Supper. Jesus asks in prayer about all people being one as He and The Father are one. I think that is a definite answer. Although I can’t quote you the exact verse or its numeber, I just remember the general meaning of the passage. Peace.:angel1::knight1:
