Yes, I know we have all sorts of Eucharistic imagery going on here, among other things, but it has slightly amused me — and touched me — that He’s asking for food, eating with, and cooking breakfast for everyone in His few appearances post Resurrection. Poor guy finally gets to relax and chow down 🙂

When He raised the Daughterof Jairus, he commanded that she be given something to eat. Just as the body needs the spirit to survive, the body also needs fuel.

I think perhaps He wanted His apostles to be absolutely certain that His physical body had been raised, so doubts wouldn’t start to arise in their minds later. ( eg was it just a spirit? in our mental anguish were we sort of hallucinating? etc.). But one remembers vividly that He ate physical food - which would require Him having a physical body.

Well, we also know that He breathed after His resurrection (He had a voice; you need breath for that.)

He needed something to burn in all that oxygen!!!

ICXC NIKA!!

This is true (feeding Jarius’ daughter, and the need for food to fuel the body), but not the cause for Jesus eating the fish.

Jarius’ daughter was not resurrected with a glorified body like Christ was (or we will be on the last day); her physical life was restored, like Lazarus – and both would succumb to physical death eventually.

His glorified body needed no physical nourishment.

Perhaps eating, even after showing his wounds, was another way to prove his presence and that he was not an apparition

Happy Easter!
