In my parish there is a morning Rosary that takes place everyday, a very good thing! There has been something that has bothered me for awhile that concerns it. Whenever we say the sorrowful mysteries the same person leads them and uses these gross meditations for each bead; such as for the wound on his should for carrying our punishment, or the wound in his left foot, or the wound in his side and so on. Now I do not argue that one can call to mind things to meditate on but this person goes a little far, so far that one of the bead meditations is “for the greatest wound, the wound in your soul that our sins caused.” This always gets me because it does not sound right. Obviously his body was wounded for our faults but was his soul?
I don’t know if this person’s meditation has gone too far or if he is dogmatically legit. Can someone point me in the right direction on this.
