Ah, yes indeed ~ Russians love their pork and the Irish love their “blood pudding”. 😃

Greetings to the Missus! 😉

Jakasaki, we’re not quite living in Dearborn, but yes close enough 😉

To answer your question that is indeed off topic, but I feel it could be beneficial to other readers who may have given up hope on any conversion of Muslims; yes my husband is indeed on the road to becoming a Catholic. Praise God! I am certain that this is due to my witness and the Holy Spirit working through me. That my friend is a HUGE victory.

When I met him we had no idea it would lead to marriage. 7 years ago I was a 17 year old girl trying to justify to my family, and friends how I could in fact want to date someone with such different views and beliefs, knowing in fact it wouldn’t lead to anything serious. I found it hard to even justify to myself, but something kept drawing me closer to this man. He was a good person. A better person than many Christians I know. He didn’t have to be called a Christian to see that. There are indeed many many good people from other faiths out there.

He had never been told anything about Christianity from any other standpoint than what Islam teaches of it. Was that his fault? Of course not. That was his culture, he was from Lebanon, and yes there are many Christians there. I think it’s pretty safe to say it is one of the most mixed religious countries in the Middle East, and a very beautiful place indeed. Being that though, he still had never actually seen Christians being true witnesses to the Lord. And I know now that he has, it has had a huge impact on his life.

We dated 6 years and married this past June. I would have never dreamed in a million years that he would agree to marry in a Catholic Church and yet he did. And his Muslim family had no issue with this, amazingly enough. Earlier in our courtship you see they had a very big problem with us being together, as did my own family, but lo and behold, love prevails! I know it was a miracle indeed when his family and mine could come together and celebrate our vows in the Catholic Church and have no issues with it at all. We’re talking straight up full blown Catholic ceremony, in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and nobody had any animosity towards the other, everyone was very comfortable, and yes that was a very joyous day and a miracle in itself.

As for your question on how many Dearborn Muslims have I converted, the answer is none! I can’t convert anyone…as for the Holy Spirit; I guess I will never be sure how many Dearborn Muslims He has converted. 🙂 I do believe however, this isn’t the right question to be asking. You see Muslims in general probably won’t come out and say it when they feel they have changed beliefs. There is much more Muslim conversion going on than people believe but due to the Islamic culture, many don’t come out and say “well I’m Christian now, and no longer a Muslim.” because that will probably draw a lot of animosity and confusion among their family and friends and could even lead to their death in some countries. That could be a very hard thing to deal with especially when you are freshly believing in Christ as Lord. MBBs (Muslim background believers) have a very hard time coming out and saying “I am Christian now,” but don’t think it isn’t happening. The Holy Spirit is always at work.

I can say however, that I have generated many many questions about the faith, and in turn the answers that I try and give have allowed many people to begin questioning their own Muslim faith. That is all I need to know to sleep peacefully enough at night. For there is no contest here on how many converts I can win or not. That’s so beyond the point, what I am working for is helping any Muslim come to Jesus. And if in my lifetime I only really help one, well I still consider that a victory for Christ. If you allow it the Holy Spirit will work through you in ways that you don’t even recognize. Several times I have been at work or around Muslims, and haven’t said a word to them about my faith, but I have been questioned on the crucifix around my neck, and that indeed opens up a whole new conversation… 😃 Now if there was no possibility of ever convincing Muslims of Christianity, then the whole idea of Christianity would be a fraud in and of itself, but there IS hope, and Christianity is certainly NOT a fraud.

Hopefully this answered your questions, forgive me, I know I wrote a lot but that seems to happen to me often when trying to explain things. Thanks for reading.

May God Bless you, and keep you in the palm of His hand. :hug3:

i like your words KS_On_The_Rock
may can i answer some of your questions here if you don’t mind

“Why are they not allowed to question their religion?
this knowledge is wrong , may can i give you some sites where muslims and nonmuslims can ask whatever they want about islam 🙂

“Why is the Quran only fully understood in its true language?”
not only the quran , i think that any book will be fully understood in its true languge rather than it’s translation

How is Islam said to be a universal religion, yet then only fully able to be understood if you’re an Arabic speaking Muslim?”
i think that quran is understandable in other languges as well

isn’t bible will be only fully able to be understood if you are hebrew/ greek speaking christian ?
elwill,

Thank you for reading my posts! 🙂 I’m glad to see that happening. As for the questions asked…I am mainly pointing out some questions for you my Muslim friends. I am glad you took the time to answer them according to your beliefs.

I would love for you to point out to me some sites where I can see Muslims asking about their faith; it would be very kind of you to do this. I do want you to know though, that I do not mean questions such as getting the facts of the religion according to Muslim view. I more or less mean really asking yourself if these things are true.

As for the Qur’an, in conversation with some of my many Muslim friends, I have come across a stump that keeps popping up when regarding my questioning the Qur’an itself. I agree that the original language that something is written in is indeed the best way for someone to understand that message, but it should not be a road block in allowing the reader of a translated copy of the same message to understand. However, I find myself as a road block when talking to some Muslims when I question what is written in the translation of the Qur’an in English.

I believe the copy I have is the most widely translated copy, the Yusuf Ali version. I have commented on many verses in your book and been told that you have to understand the original Arabic to understand the true message. Hmm…this seems to end the conversation because to that I always reply… IF Islam was a universal religion, then how does it expect to gain converts if they are told they can never truly understand the true message of the Qur’an without being a native speaker of Arabic?

I have a hard time coming to terms with this, because for one thing I can’t read or speak Arabic fluently and probably never will be able to, so how should I be able to understand the message of the Qur’an? I can in fact understand the English translation very easily…but after reading it and asking questions I am told that is not the true Qur’an and I won’t be able to understand it if I don’t understand the Arabic it is written in. This is a little odd don’t you agree?

As it pertains to the Bible no, the translations of the Bible have proven to still send the same message regardless the language, if it didn’t then there probably wouldn’t be even half as many Christians as there are out there today. I understand that you can and probably will tell me that the message in the Qur’an is the same in all languages as well…if that be the case then we have a contradiction in our hands already because many Muslims will argue that it can only be fully understood in its original and native Arabic language.

I am very interested in speaking with you, and look forward to your next message.

May God Bless you and keep you in the palm of His hand. :hug3:

The verses do not say that the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) does not perform miracles.
Well, let me slap my knee and slap my head. You’re right, I didn’t read it Arabic to understand it.

It’s clear - the people around mohamad are looking for a sign of a miracle willed by his allah - it states in the koran he, mohamad is nothing but a warner.

Muslims have no knowledge at all about any verse in the Qur’an which states that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) does not perform miracles.

Such a verse would most certainly contradict the ahadith which records many such miracles of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

Contradicting the koran and ahadith is okay. Fiction is just that…fiction.

Yum Yum…Portuguese sausage. Tasty tasty tasty. Made from Arab raised hogs.

Kindly point out where in the Qur’an does it state this “fact” that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) does not perform miracles.
If I must repeat what jakasaki and JherakCarnelian have already posted, then here it is:
They ask: ‘Why was no sign sent down to him from his Lord?’ Say: ‘God is well able to send down a sign.’ But most of them are ignorant men. (Qur’an, p. 96, 6:36, 2nd Para. – 3rd Para.)
And they ask: ‘Why has no sign been sent down to him by his Lord?’ Say: ‘God alone has knowledge of what is hidden. Wait if you will: I too am waiting.’ (Qur’an, p. 149, 10:20, 1st Para. – 2nd Para.)
The unbelievers ask: ‘Why has no sign been sent down to him by his Lord?’ But you are only to give warning. Every nation has its mentor. (Qur’an, p. 175, 13:5, 4th Para.)
The unbelievers ask: ‘Why has no sign been sent down to him by his Lord?’ Say: 'God leaves in error whom He will, and guides to Himself those who repent and have faith; whose hearts find comfort in the remembrance of God. Surely in the remembrance of God all hearts are comforted. Blessed are those who have faith and do good works; blissful is their end. (Qur’an, p. 177, 13:25, 4th Para.)
Some say: ‘It is but a medley of dreams.’ Others: ‘He has invented it himself,’ And yet others: ‘He is a poet: let him show us some sign, as did the apostles in days gone by.’ [Yet though We showed them signs,] the communities whom We destroyed before them did not believe either. Will they believe? (Qur’an, p. 227, 21:1, 4th Para. – 21:6, 1st Para.)
They say: ‘Why does he not bring us a sign from his Lord?’ Have they not been given sufficient proof in previous scriptures? (Qur’an, p. 227, 20:132, 2nd Para.)
If he had performed miracles, there would be no reason for him to address why he hadn’t.

Oh man, that looks like exactly what I would love for breakfast. 😃

Sorry Qwerk, at this point, we’ve taken your thead beyond your intentions & discussions!

OK folks… back to Jesus vs mohamad -

I think it is best not to keep pointing out other’s problems just because they don’t say it like you do.

I never want anyone to leave. That is exactly what Islam is about - censorship. I want you to give your opinion. Some that I have come across on CAF do get all entangled with their weird ideas of love and get angry and want people to follow whatever they are saying. I do not. I want you to feel free (within forum rules of course!!) but I have no problem with you writing what you do. We waste more time pointing out each others problems though when the real problem is Islam and please read the article in the next paragraph. We were dupped about Islam. It is not about peace, nor is it benign and good for us to just sit back and let steam roll over us while we think that we should be emersing ourselves in some sort of a ‘love fest’. (more like political correctness gone astray)

Sometimes I think that God works in strange ways because when I am not saying something correctly, He sends me someone who does. Here.
Very interesting article, thank you for sharing it. I don’t mean by talking with these people in a peaceful, respectful, loving way in any way means we pulling the wool over our eyes. I will be the first one to tell you one, that I strongly disagree with many things that the Obama administration has done and two, I personally am ready to see them leave Washington, especially after the healthcare bill.

That being said however and putting my own political opinions aside, many of the Muslims we encounter don’t even realize what their religion points to in terms of its identity in the political world. Many Christians don’t either for that matter. For arguments sake, all I’m trying to say is that we should be the utmost respectful people we can be and the most sincere when trying help Muslims see the real Truth of Christ.

As we all know the two most passionate conversations a person can have deal with religion or politics. For the sake of the better cause here though, I suggest we bring in the politics after they come to realize the message of Christ, they will then be able to see some of the horrible things that come about from the extremist authoritarian Islamic ideals. They will see that on their own, and in most cases, I would be willing to bet would not want to identify with supporting that. I think the main goal of the mission though is to bring them to the light of Christ.

May God Bless you and keep you in the palm of His hand. :hug3:

but you don’t believe that Jesus is God. That is where salvation comes from.
my answer were specific to your comparison when you said that
Gabriel told Mary she would have the Christ. The Word made Flesh.
**Gabriel told mohammad that Jesus isn’t God. **

it’s look like you wnna to say that theire is contradiction here which means that one of them is jebril and the other is satan , isn’t it your point ?

well , my point is that their is no contradiction here because gebril told mohammed that jesus isn’t God and jebril told mohammed that jesus is the christ as he told to mariam , and jebril told mohammed that jesus is a word made flesh

so he is the same angle

i don’t believe that jesus is god as you said , but the issue here about what jebril said to marry , he didn’t say to her that " you will give a birth to your God " , did he ?

elwill,
If you read the Gospel the Angel Gabriel says the following…
(these particular verses can be found in the Gospel of Luke)

30 And the angel said to her: Fear not, Mary, for you have found grace with God. 31 Behold you shall conceive in your womb and shall bring forth a son: and you shall call his name Jesus. 32 *He shall be great and shall be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of David his father: and he shall reign in the house of Jacob for ever. 33 And of his kingdom there shall be no end. *

Mary’s cousin Elizebeth also clearly proclaims the Lord Jesus in her womb.

41 And it came to pass that when Elizabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the infant leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost. 42 And she cried out with a loud voice and said:* Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb. 43 And whence is this to me that the mother of my Lord should come to me? * 44 For behold as soon as the voice of your salutation sounded in my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy. 45 And blessed are you that have believed, because those things shall be accomplished that were spoken to you by the Lord.

So yes, the Angel Gabriel certainly did in fact announce Jesus the Son of God and our Lord.

May God Bless you and keep you in the palm of His hand. :hug3:

Oops, not so fast in assuming that a caliph is a good thing. And your definition of a good fatwa is in accordance with their laws based on the Quran and Sunnah.

Here are some quotes from the Reliance of the Traveller, the book of Sharia laws. I will post the number of the law if you or someone else doesn’t have this book they can just look at the law in a different book,

There are more quotes but you get the idea. Here is a caliph following the law from the Hadith:
My point being with no central authority that they, like protestants, will forever be in conflict. Sunni and Shiite will never agree on a Caliph we will have perpetual war.

Oh man, that looks like exactly what I would love for breakfast. 😃

That is ok - I was drooling over that breakfast. It looks like one of our healthy Wisconsin breakfasts of champions! It keeps popping up and it looks good.

the most important thing to me is to find respectfull conversation ( it’s hard these days to find social conversation 😦 )
if you wanna from me to asking myself if these things are true , then you are wellcome , i will ask my self loudly , and you will find me listnning to you if their are any objections 🙂

this is good site for asking questions

i’m not understanding what muslims told you about these things which seems to you block road !!! , did they said to you i"it have no meaning in english or what ?
the quran allready translated to probably all languags in the world

the translation just lack the accurate translation , for example when some christians raise the issue about prohibit the muslims to take friends from nonmuslims . is friend accurate translation for the word mentioned in arabic ? no
is it wrong translation ? well , for the first glance as an arabic speaker and have merely good english languge may be i will feel that it’s acceptable translation , but my understanding for the original arabic word not representing your understanding (as an eglish speaker ) for the translated english word , so that the misunderstanding and conflicts will raises
but through our discussion i will discover what happened and i will find out the root cause of your misunderstanding , hence i will correct that by saying that the orignal arabic word refer to another thing , it dosn’t refer to friendship relationship as you thought , any arabic speaker will know that
are you understand what am trying to say ?
I believe the copy I have is the most widely translated copy, the Yusuf Ali version. dose he really end the conversation after saying that you have to understand the original arabic ? or dose he starting to clarify his point but you are the one who prefer to end the conversation rather than listnning ?

you asking how does islam expect to gain converts , i think the situation about islam exceeded the stage of expectation , because it’s facts in the world that islam gain converts from un-arabic speakers
may be i misunderstood your question in the first place , so it will help me alot if you defined for me the meaning of universal relegion from your point of view and what is the universal relegions exist in the world from your point of view
so how should I be able to understand the message of the Qur’an? I can in fact understand the English translation very easily…but after reading it and asking questions I am told that is not the true Qur’an and I won’t be able to understand it if I don’t understand the Arabic it is written in. This is a little odd don’t you agree?
i understand your point , but i’m not sure if i can agree with you in that
if my knowlege in english for example is weak , and while i’m reading english book i found some expressions and some parables are hard for me to understand because some of these things are need native languge and native culture to understnd as for the mere litereal transaltion will not transform the purpose from it to me , i will not feel that it’s the fault of the book , i will confess that it’s me who havn’t enough knowledge
beside , existing of these things will not prevent me to understand the core massage of that book , do you agree with me ?
As it pertains to the Bible no, the translations of the Bible have proven to still send the same message regardless the language, if it didn’t then there probably wouldn’t be even half as many Christians as there are out there today. you are talking about translations of the bible , i will suggest that you mean from greek language .
let me say that i will doubt about the situation of the bible if the greek language is a living language and are practiced and culturly known in the world with comparison to arbic language
simple example , do you know that some translations translted greek word which talking about jesus as “son” and other translations translated exactly the same word in the same verse as “servant” , which is the most accurate ? is it son of God or servant of God ?
i can explore for you this verse if you want

so firstly , jebril say that he shall be called son of God , he didn’t say that he is the son of God or the God himself , may be he inform her prophecy about what will happen ,

but it may be just assumption , so let us argue that he really meant that jesus will be the son of God
my question will be " what was this expression means in the hebrew culture for these people ?
