What’s wrong with that? Didn’t Christ worship in Hebrew?
 
Nothing wrong, but we aren’t Jewish. You can see where it has a possibility of leading.
I have persoanal experiance, there was a house of Yaweh center just a few blocks from my former residence.

Jews don’t vocalize the Tetragrammaton at all. Remember that in Hebrew it’s always unvowelled when written and replaced in pronunciation by “HaShem” (“The Name”) or else “Adonai” (the Lord) etc. Of course Protestants have long used “Jehovah” (in English-speaking lands, at least, with the “J” sound), but for some reason vocalizing the Tetragrammaton (with the “Y” sound) seems to be a post-conciliar phenomenon in the Catholic Church.
 
This reminds me of a joke I heard a while ago:

Forrest Gump dies and sees St. Peter at the Pearly Gates and St. Peter says, “Forrest, you’ve led an interesting life and you always tried to do the right thing; you were selfless in action and open in your love. Before I let you in, I’m just curious if you know God’s name?”

Forrest thinks back to his days singing southern Gospel songs and immediately has a light bulb moment. He exclaims, “Andy!”.

St. Peter says, “Andy? Where did you get that?”.

Forrest replies, “You know, the old song, Andy (And He) walks with me, Andy (And He) talks with me, He tells me I am his own…”.

They try to mix Judaism and Christianity into a non-Christian non-Jewish blend. They keep kosher, observe the Jewish calendar and eschew the Christian calendar. Celebrate passover and not Pascha/Easter.

I know this is a part of pop-fad theology like the so called Rapture. There are several messianic chruches around here, and most of them were originally Baptist.

There are cults like the House of Yaweh here in Texas, the Armstrong church that draws thousands for their feast of tabernacles and Passover celebrations. The founder of House of Yaweh had a power struggle with hisbrother, and one ended up murdered and the other in Prison. The House of Yaweh members live in a compound of campers and cede their money to the cult.

Their are also cults like the Jehovah Witnesess who practically worship the name Jehovah a variant on Yaweh.

And of course the semi-Christian Seventh Day Adventists who call the Holy Father the beast, sunday worship the “sign of the beast” and the church the “W****e of Babylon”.

So please take care aroundn these people.

Don’t over complicated things.
Hebrew speaking Catholics do spell Jesus name Yeshua, in Mass, in Rosary, in Hebrew translation of the New Testament, and in their prayers.

Not too long ago, the English letters “I” and “J” were interchangeable. At some point we simply lost the letter “o” from the name above all names. “O” well. 🙂

The letter “Y” is simply the Greek version of the letter “I”. So “I”, “J”, & “Y” are all basically the same letter etymologically.

I am glad you posted this. While there is nothing wrong in calling Jesus Yeshua or God Yahweh, we found when we attended a Messianic Synagogue that they believe if you use the English Jesus or God that you are going to hell. There is a lot in the Messianic that is destructive.
Personally I love the names Yeshua, Yahweh & Adonai. But I also love the names God and Jesus.

I believe the English word God has Sanskrit origins.

How are you?

I call Jesus Christ “Jesus” and/or “Jesus Christ” most of the time because Christians call him “Jesus”, that is his name in English, I grew up saying “Jesus” and “Jesus Christ”, and etc.

But, I would really like to perfer to call Jesus “Yeshua” because the Aramaic name “Yeshua” was his real name in life, he was a Ancient Israelite/Ancient Hebrew/Ancient Jew, his religion was and he taught Messianic Judaism (According to Messianic Jews and myself but, mainstream Christians like Roman Catholics, Orthodox Christians, and Protestants think that his religion was and he taught Christianity.) he spoke Aramaic as his original langauge, and etc. Plus, I really love, I am really interested in, and I am really drawn to Messianic Judaism and that is why I would really like call Jesus by his real name…Yeshua.

By the way, did you know that Muslims call Jesus/Jesus Christ/Yeshua by the Arabic name, “Issa”.

I think it would be more consistent if you call Jesus “Yashua” that you would adapt aramaic or hebrew as your daily toungue, instead of just one word.

This comes across as an affectation to me mostly.

As for the “name” of God in many languages…

“God” in the Germanic languages derives from the word for “a god”, possibly a minor one. The Old English word that meant closer to our word for a supreme deity was Oss, from whence we get names like Osmond and Osric, and cognate with the Old Norse As, hence Aesir.

The French Dieu, Spanish Deos, etc come from Latin Deus, Greek Theos, ultimately from Proto-Indo-European Dyeaus (Pitar), “sky (father)”, from which we also get Tiw, Tyr, Deva, and even Jupiter (obliquely).

Etymology is fun.

Jesus’ name was never spelled “Yeshua”. Arguably, it was never spelled “Jesus”. His name was spelled using either the Aramaic, Hebrew or Greek alphabets. As I already posted, “I”, “J” and “Y” are all very closely related, so “Jesus” is simply one way out of many that our lord’s name could be validly written in using the Latin/English alphabet.

Bottom line is that no one ever called Him “Yeshua” while he was alive. Such a word did not exist, because no one language had all these letters at time!
 
I like how father calls Him “Our Lord” to avoid giving us all a crick in the neck. 😉
