don’t feel bad about it. when we Catholics stand up for our faith and our Pope, people will just say we’re being biased, and we’re siding with themI find it sad that a Jewish person would stand up for the Church before many Catholics would. I appreciate his comments, but it just reminds me that too many Catholics need to realize that it is time to forgive and to work through this together instead of bashing the priests and the Pope and the Church herself.

I lived in NYC before, during and after Koch. Through Bernie Goetz, the central park jogger, Michael Griffith and lived less than 5 blocks from where Yuseph Hawkins was killed. All tragic. but…
Goetz *was *self defense. His mistake was carrying the unlicensed gun and since you did not post the “positive comments about Bernie Goetz” we really have no basis to form an opinion.
And yes, while many black citizens (and white and Asian and Hispanic) were truly outraged by the central park jogger mugging (black on white if I recall) and Yuseph Hawkins (white on black) there were also the black rabble-rousers who sought not healing but the continuing of tension for their own political benefit.
I was never a huge Ed Koch fan, but the man would look you in the eye, ask for your opinion and tell you his. Pick and choose and convince yourself it is true, I’ll take 12 years of experience as a constituent.
