Do you belive that Jews are the chosen of God, or the church is the true Israel? Do you belive that the Jews killed Christ?
And about Ezekiel 40-47-Will a Temple really be built in Christ’s second coming, and if not, what is that prophercy?

What is your religion? Your profile does not state what it is.

The Jews did not execute the Messiah. Look at the procedure as recounted in the Gospels. The Jews charged Jesus in the Roman courts with sedition against Caesar by styling himself the King of the Jews. The Roman authorities executed him on what today would be regarded as insufficient evidence. Had the Jewish authorities put him to death it would have been by stoning. No one contests that he died by crucifixion, a Roman execution.
If you want the culprit in the death of Jesus it’s the Romans not the Jews. Let’s all line up against the Italians. They’re the real Christ-killers.

Matthew

The Jews were chosen by God to be a people set apart, a people that worshipped one God.

They were chosen because the Saviour of the whole world was to be born of them.

We all crucified Jesus because of our sins, and we should never forget that.

Hi Easter,

God made a covenant with Israel, and although Israel may not have been faithful, God remains faithful. The Jewish people will survive till the end of times and will ultimately convert to Christ, as predicted by St. Paul :
Brothers, I do not want to leave you in ignorance of this mystery, lest you glory in your wisdom. A part of Israel has hardened until pagans as a whole should come in, and thus all of Israel will be saved, as it is written.
(Rom. 11,25, my trans.)

As for “Jews” killing Jesus, Jesus would not have been killed if the chiefs of the Jews had not brought him to Pilate and insisted on having Him crucified. The “cooperation” of both Jews and Pagans does emphasize the fact that Jesus died for the sins of all of us, and that we all killed him in some manner.

It may just be me, but when i read the scriptures detailing the passion, I envisage what the authors term ‘the jews’, is the collective name for the assorted political and religious leaders of the jewish people who conspired to have Jesus crucified by taking him to Pilate.

Of course, anti-semites through history ignore this interpretation, and have used the scriptures to suit themselves and their own ends, and follow the line that the term means the whole jewish race or nation, however you wish to define it.

On the other hand, surely this term ‘the jews’ is used throughout the gospels, and the bible as a whole, and not always not just to mean the pharisees and sadducees and so on, so perhaps its a matter of context, that it may mean the whole nation in some parts, and *certain sections of the nation (I.E. leaders) *in others. I guess it’s down to how you want to read into things.

I don’t know about you, but I hardly envisage the whole people of israel standing outside pilate’s garrison on good friday, just a crowd of leaders and die hard followers, and those enlisted to whip up anti-Jesus feeling. Plus, if you wish to follow the ‘all of the jewish people killed Jesus’ line, you should bear in mind that the first christians were predominately jewish converts, so to use the term as a whole does have its faults.

Hope this helps, it’s just my insight anyway:)

Matt
