I’m not impressed. But for a British general in Kosovo who stopped Clark from starting it, we would have been in a shooting war with the Russians there. telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/1562161/Gen-Sir-Mike-Jackson-My-clash-with-Nato-chief.htmlDoes anyone remember Gen. Generally, the wars in Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan have been a terrible waste of human life and taxpayer money. Something evil is driving these wars.Arrogance, a sense of invincibility, moral superiority and a false belief that deep down all nations of the world would love the type of society we have, coupled with personal political benefits of winning a war, seems to have blinded our political leaders to the real consequences of their actions. Then again war is good for business (arms exports are worth £80 billion per year to the USA).
Saddam Hussein was not a threat to our security, he did not possess WMDs. and Iraq was not a hot-bed of anti-western terrorism. Indeed, just a few years before the 1st Gulf war he was considered to be our ally. Then all of a sudden he went from ally to villain overnightArrogance?
Which of the alternatives do you prefer to American involvement.
- Rule by Saddam Hussein.
- Rule by ISIS.
- Rule by Iran.
- Protracted war between ISIS and Iran in Iraq, with each periodically going into the territority of the other to torture and kill.
No I don’t. The actions of the USA in the region are not motivated by a sense of doing what is right and moral.Do you truly not believe America has any moral superiority to those? Really, do you not?
The arms trade. This generates profits and it needs substantial wars to grow its market. International arms business is the only export business underwritten by Western governments (using taxpayers money).Generally, the wars in Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan have been a terrible waste of human life and taxpayer money. Christians from Mosul say they have been targeted for months
AMMAN, Jordan (CNS) --The fall of Mosul, Iraq’s second-largest city, to Islamist militants in early June sent half a million residents scurrying for safety, but Christians from the city say they were targeted long before Iraqi security forces abandoned the major political and economic hub.
“We, Christians, have been objects of kidnapping, torture and killing by extremists hoping to extort money from us or to force us to convert to Islam – for several months,” said a young Iraqi Catholic man from Mosul, who identified himself simply as “Danny.”
Danny and about 350 Catholic families escaped the Mosul area to Jordan over the past three months, said Father Khalil Jaar, who is responsible for much of the church’s care for Iraqi and Syrian refugees in the Jordanian capital, Amman.
I pray for them.
We anti-war protesters were right: the Iraq invasion has led to bloody chaos
I have encountered no sense of vindication, no “I told you so”, among veterans of the anti-war protest of 15 February 2003 in response to the events in Iraq. Despair, yes, but above all else, bitterness – that we were unable to stop one of the greatest calamities of modern times, that warnings which were dismissed as hyperbole now look like understatements, that countless lives (literally – no one counts them) have been lost, and will continue to be so for many years to come.
In July 2002, the Guardian warned that Britain was “sleepwalking to war”. Blair’s commitment to invade come what may – which the Chilcot inquiry (when it is finally published) will either confirm or whitewash – is now established. By September 2002, the inevitability had sunk in. In the first demonstration, hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets in London on 27 September – me and my grandfather among them – full of determination and foreboding. Three weeks earlier, Amr Moussa, then-secretary general of the Arab League, warned that the Iraq war would “open the gates of hell”.
God have mercy on us
And where are all of these weapons going? Last I heard they were in the hands of ISIS:The arms trade. This generates profits and it needs substantial wars to grow its market. International arms business is the only export business underwritten by Western governments (using taxpayers money).
Saddam started two wars, one of them nearly a “world war”. (Remember how many nations were involved in the first phase? Even Japan contributed resources to that one. So did Syria. So did Egypt.) Saddam was not regarded by the world as a harmless guy.Saddam Hussein was not a threat to our security, he did not possess WMDs. and Iraq was not a hot-bed of anti-western terrorism. Indeed, just a few years before the 1st Gulf war he was considered to be our ally. Then all of a sudden he went from ally to villain overnight
As for Iran, in terms of the region Iran is actually a stable force, as was (is) Assad’s Syria.

Absolutely. Talk to a “boat person” as I have done, and you’ll know what the evil was in Vietnam. Talk to a survivor of Saddam’s gas attacks against the Kurds and you’ll know what evil was. Talk to some (now adult) Iranian kid who saw his friends, some no older than 12 or 14, sent out by rich Mullahs, electrocuted and gassed by Saddam in the Iran/Iraq war, and you’ll know about evil. Talk to whatever women aren’t afraid to talk to you in Afghanistan, and you’ll know about evil. Talk to the “dancing boys” who are kidnapped and sodomized by the Taliban, and you’ll smell something of what evil is.Generally, the wars in Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan have been a terrible waste of human life and taxpayer money. Something evil is driving these wars.
That myth was put to rest long ago.And he did have WMD. The Brits destroyed what everybody thinks was the last chemical weapons (known, at least) the summer before last, at the request of the Iraqi government. Nobody knows for sure where Assad got his, but contemporaries reported shipments of WMD to Syria during the war. I realize it’s presently Dem talking points to say “no WMD”, but Saddam had them, and was clearly determined to make more. Remember “Dr. Germ”?
Right they have a few weapons now, but Isis is misleading since its prompted up by the Sunni who are at odds with the prejudice Shiite regime. In other words 2500 troops of Isis didn’t do all this. And its also why the Sunni who served with the regime gave up, they don’t want to fight the Sunni terrorist group because at the end of the day they don’t believe in the regime. And where are all of these weapons going? Last I heard they were in the hands of ISIS:
That is terrible. I wonder what God is thinking when He looks down and sees what is in the hearts of these men and the pleasure they are getting from killing.“ISIS have tweeted the decapitated head of what appears to be an Iraqi policeman with the sentence ‘This is our football, it’s made of skin #World Cup’, followed by a boast of having slaughtered 1,700 soldiers.”

So, Obama has gone from being the handmaiden of the Muslim Brotherhood (which spawned AQ and its like) and the Islamists in Libya, to being the servitor of Iran in Iraq. Here is today’s summary from the Guardian:
Summary
We’re wrapping our coverage for the day – the latest summary is current:
• Isis advanced toward Baghdad, seizing Saadiyah and fighting skirmishes near Samarra, Jalawla and Baquba. Sunni insurgents traded fire with both Shia militia and the Iraqi army, while Kirkuk remains under Kurdish control.
• The US is considering an air assault on Isis targets in Iraq and Syria. Barack Obama said he will consider “a range of options” to “break the momentum” of the several-thousand-strong insurgents.
• Obama has deferred a military decision for “several days”, saying the US requires a political plan from Iraqi leaders, an indirect call for prime minister Nouri al-Maliki to work with Sunni, Kurdish and other groups.
• Shia militias rallied to the call of Iraq’s most senior Shia cleric,Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, who called Iraqis to take up arms against “terrorists”.
• An influential Iranian general met with Iraqi leaders in Baghdad, while convoys of Shia militia traveled north to defend the Shia shrines whose destruction sparked the 2006 civil war.
• The UN says it has verified reports of summary executions by Isis militants in Mosul. Human rights spokesman Rupert Colville said his office had reports the killings included the execution of 17 civilians.

This may be the end of Maliki’s government. Which I don’t think any major player would mind ending.
Not a myth. news.yahoo.com/uk-experts-help-iraq-destroy-chemical-residues-144204378.htmlThat myth was put to rest long ago.
Whether you are a sailor, soldier, marine, airman, you are still serving your country and you did an important job.So there is no misunderstanding. I was not a soldier, but a sailor. The Iraqis I worked with were in the Iraqi Navy. Good people and they took extremely good care of the patrol boats we gave them. I did two tours off the coast of Iraq and our ship transported prisoners as well. I went through training at college with USMC officers and met up with some classmates overseas. It tore me up to hear them talk about not wanting to go back and how awful it was. My cousin was an HM with the USMC and did not adjust to civilian life. He committed suicide.
Decades old residue isn’t a weapon of mass destruction. The ISG concluded there were no weapons of mass destruction and Bush himself publicly admitted the error. Time to move on.
I know sister. they are barbaric, but then another report surfaced of the actual number being 17, these guys are no doubt using propaganda through the media to promote fear. The psychological warefare and media is a large part of their agenda. Nevertheless when they use amputation of thieves, Crucify criminals and don’t allow women outdoors they are barbaric. That is terrible. I wonder what God is thinking when He looks down and sees what is in the hearts of these men and the pleasure they are getting from killing.
Well, they were wrong. But if you can produce the spoil dates for the weapons the Iraqis found and the Brits destroyed, we can take a look at them.Decades old residue isn’t a weapon of mass destruction.
