I’d be more interested if he wrote a book of memoirs about his time running a rock club that was apparently a pretty well-known and happening place. He could talk about the time he met Bruce Springsteen et al. Those memoirs are often fun for music fans to read. I couldn’t care less why he divorced or broke up with however many women have been in his life.

An accusation. As yet unsupported.
And it has been 6 days since this accusation broke and no one has come forward to substantiate this:
Stevenson and his then-wife grew close to Biden in 1972 while working on his first campaign to represent Delaware in the US Senate
Fake News( coming from a News Blog ) and a Nothing Burger.

Now in the unlikely event Joe Biden wins in November, how many times will this story be referenced here at CAF during his 4 years in office?

The problem is when people take the bait and engage in an endless debate over it. If threads like this were allowed to just die on the vine, then there would be no issue.

If people could actually “debate on candidates” without sinking to new lows in behavior on every other thread, it would be okay.

People don’t seem to be able to control themselves on WN, either in what they post, or in the arguments they get into here.

Many of the threads end up being an embarrassment to Catholicism, people get banned and there are also posters who seem to just want to start “debates” in WN constantly and rarely or ever participate in the many other subforums dealing with actual Catholicism.

If you want a political news discussion forum, they’re all over the Internet. You have dozens to choose from. We don’t need another one here, and a lot of us don’t even want one here.
Are you saying that Catholic Answers does not control its content? I think it does and it relies on posters also. There are many trolls on these forums who are not Catholic.

Election cycles are always brutal and having Catholics not participate does not seem realistic. I would like to see more prayers on pages but that seems to have disappeared everywhere not just on World News.

Banning World News would not make Catholics more holy.

People choose to bring that brutality to Catholic Answers and by participating in it, they are encouraging others to participate in it.

People bring discourse but Catholic Answers has charge of its site and will ban posters they deem inappropriate. They realize Catholics do not live in a bubble.

Last election, Catholic Answers had a lot of limitations on the number and type of political threads one could post. They also had a lot more active, paid moderators. Now they don’t. World News has gotten progressively worse ever since.

World News has not got progressively worse. Catholic Answers has moderators. They changed their format but that was about 10 years ago.

Again there are a lot of trolls on Catholic Answers but there is no way to stop that only by banning when they deem theie posts as inappropriate and they do that.

It has nothing to do with living in a bubble. It’s a matter of conduct that should be displayed on a Catholic message board, and the message it sends.

This site is run by a Catholic group under Catholic management. They allow discourse but watch it and will ban posters. Do Catholics need more prayer time, yes and there are sections for that.

I think there’s a lot to be said for self control and self policing.

I think I’ve said all I have to say on the subject. I’m muting this topic now. Whoever wants the last word is more than welcome to it. It’s not that important to me.

Catholic Answers is the judge of that and they do watch their site. Again trolls are on this site so there is not much Catholic Answers can do but ban them.

That is actually what the book is about according to the man…his life and his business…his ex wife was a part of his life and so there is mention of her and the breakup of the marriage.

Just because there is a book on something, it does not mean it’s charitable to start a thread here discussing it.

There are books on the sex lives of every celebrity you can think of including many past Presidents and politicians. We don’t start threads about them.

I could see a thread if this is something allegedly happening this week, but a 50-year-old allegation about someone who has been married in the Church for decades is not something I’d be discussing, whether the person is a Presidential candidate, his wife, Grace Kelly, or the lector at Mass today.

I do not understand why some Catholics seem to think this is perfectly fine to discuss, nor why CA allows it to continue.

The man said the book is about his business …the place many rock stars got their start …you said that’s was what you wanted to read about …I just commented that since it is about the man’s life, his dreams, his business, how it all started and became “something” that would include life events …having started and owned a business I can attest to life events - which may seem unrelated - impacting the business…marriage and divorce, infidelity, births and deaths

I’d prefer not to keep this thread alive by adding any more to the discussion. I’ve already let the moderators and everyone here know how I feel. I don’t want to add sins of gossip to my next confession. I’ll be muting now.

Catholic Answers does have a format to control its site. You may see this topic as inappropriate or irrelevant but it is her first husband who is writing the book. I have know idea how uncharitiable the book will be, the husband has stated he he not trying to hurt anyone but thinks the truth should be told.
