Didn’t see this posted anywhere else (of course, when I post this, I’m sure I’ll see three other threads, and we’ll all be merged together). An interview with comedian Jimmy Fallon, in part:

sacatholic.com/2011/12/05/catholicism-jimmy-fallon-wanted-to-be-a-priest/

Summary: Jimmy compares the Mass to Show Business and misses the reverant Masses of old.

There’s a link there where one can listen to him; I haven’t. I’m only going by what was written.

Pray for Jimmy Fallon to come back to the Church - the desire is there, but the flesh is weak.

Yeah, I complete understand what he is talking about. I am sure he can find a Latin Mass if he wants to.

Sounds like he needs to go to a Latin mass. 😛
I think that’s what he wants.

Sometimes it’s not that easy. Even in larger cities

For example, in Idaho, Boise is the largest city - over 250,000. But, if someone in Boise wants a “licit” Latin Mass (i.e., not SSPX), they would have to drive about 400 miles, over multiple mountain passes, up to Coeur d’Alene (population 45,000).

So what he’s saying is that unless the Mass appeals to his personal likes and dislikes then he’s not going?

Jimmy Fallon was turned away by an irreverent mass.

Certain things like that can easily shake the faith of the believer, or at least turn him away from those masses.

Why don’t we restore the Latin Mass to be much more prevalent?

THere should be at least one latin mass in every diocese. Restricting the Latin Mass is dividing the Church, and as has been seen here, has turned CAtholics away.

John Paul II and Benedict XVI have made their statutes to extend the mass, but the Bishops must follow through.

Really? He didn’t like the music at Mass so he’s exempt from the Church’s laws?

It can be said at any time by any priest. What more do you want?

I’d find it hard to believe that there isn’t.

What restrictions?

There’s nothing for a bishop to “follow through.” The traditional Mass can be said by any priest at any time.

That’s funny to read this from Jimmy Fallon. 😃

I really like listening to Gross. She’s a good inerviewer.

Love NPR and “Fresh Air.” Ms. Gross is a consummate reporter and has shown ethics time and again. Always good to hear her. If you haven’t read her book that came out about 7 or so years ago, it’s an excellent read.

Maybe he should try out a different Catholic parish.

BTW, Jimmy Fallon is soooooooooooooo funny. I don’t stay up late enough to watch his show, but I saw him interviewed on a show one time. He’s probably one of my favorite comedians!
