OK, I am not asking so much on how to wiggle through this scenario to find a job. I am asking how to bring this to God and react with mature emotions.

I saw a job posting on a head hunter’s website. I contacted them because I REALLY though my skills were relevant. The posting said ‘we are looking for ABC’. It turns out, the employer has my resume on file so the head hunter can not help me. I contacted the employer since I could not find the job on their website. They said ‘I think you are referring to the job requiring skills DEF, we can forward your resume to the hiring manager’. I said ‘great’

Well, this morning I get an email from a different person who works for the head hunter saying ‘Well… we can not help you because they are looking for skills XYZ’

So I am thinking ‘huh? why would you call me when you know your colleague has already talked to me and why the different story?’ So I called her asking ‘What position exactly are you referring to?’ and she says ‘If they have your resume on file, we can not help you so it is irrelevant’

The problem I am having is I really HATE to be made to feel like someone is giving me the business. They obviously are disorganized. But being unemployed, I am at their mercy and don’t feel I can set boundaries. It triggers all the resentment and confusion (which is a scary head space to be) of all the abusive people in my life that have harmed me.

So how do I take my emotions to God. I trust He will eventually provide a job in his time, I just don’t like the frustration I am feeling and don’t know how to handle it

The thing you have to remember is that head hunters are not there for you. They don’t care about finding you a job. They work for the client that they are trying to fill a job for, so all they care about is finding a qualified person, even if that means brushing you off. But the client is the one that pays them, so filling that spot quickly is the priority.

If the company already has your resume on file a head hunter won’t submit you, because then if you’re interviewed or hired it opens up a dispute over whether or not the recruiter is entitled to commission.

Do your best to look for a job and try not to rely too heavily on recruiters. They aren’t exactly jerking you around, because they don’t owe you anything, but they do have high pressure, commission based jobs.

You may not get the response you need here but I feel, that right now in every state and every city in our country there is a person who has gone through this same run around as you have just experienced. Frustration and anger abound and the entire process seems unfair, especially when it seemed like there was a ray of “hope” for a job. The most important thing for you to do is have faith that there will be a job for you and you just have not found it yet. God will lead you there if you turn this over to Him. Don’t let this bad experience taint you, believe in yourself, obviously people were interested they just were disorganized as to what they needed. Hang in there, I will pray for you.

Dear Angie,

It does sound like they are disorganized and they already trigger negative emotions. I think I would not want to begin working for a company that already brought such negative emotions to me.

Its okay that they don’t seem interested. It could be very frustrating to work for them.

It is okay to feel frustrated because that is your feeling when they seem to give you the run around. Its how you react to the frustration that can be helpful to you. Ask God to help you not to let the frustration sit in your body.

The feelings you have about the abusive people in your life are probably a reason these people are affecting you so strongly. You are so wise to be aware of your feelings that these people giving you the run around trigger the feelings you carry from those other abusive people.

Being able to identify a description of what a feeling is like is important. “My feeling of frustration, resentment, and confusion for these people with the job opening is like those abusive people in my life.”

Work on letting God take away the harm the feelings and the abusive people have on you. Learn how to accept that you experience the negative feelings but not allow the negative emotion to stay with you causing your body and mind pain.

Allow your body to relax - deep breathing, exercise, plenty of water, tightening your muscles followed by loosening your muscles can make your body and mind feel better when the frustration, resentment, and confusion sets in.

You deserve a job that will not trigger such painfulness from the company.

If God wanted this to be your job, I don’t think you would already feel so much negative emotions.

I am praying for you, Angie.

Angie, you tell God how scary this is making you feel, you affirm that you know He is working something out for you, and you ask Him to give you courage at this time.

Then when those scary feelings strike, you remind yourself that God already has a plan, and you ask Him, again, and again, to calm your scary feelings. Say a Hail Mary, or any other prayer that comes automatically if that helps you when you can’t even find your own words through the scary spaces.

There maybe reason God didn’t want you in that particular job. Pray for insights that will help you find another job. Well, insights, patience and guidance. It is frustrating, our economy leaves alot of people unemployed and underemployed. Pray for those people in the company where you didn’t get the job, and pray for the ones in the job God has planned for you. :gopray2: I do pray that you will find an appropriate job.
