Sen. Joe Biden said Sunday that if President Bush nominates recently confirmed Circuit Court Judge Janice Rogers Brown to replace Sandra Day O’Connor on the Supreme Court, Senate Democrats will launch a filibuster.

“If Bush sent up Edith Jones, I could assure you that would be a very, very, very difficult fight - and she would probably be filibustered,” Biden told CBS’s “Face the Nation.”

In the next breath Biden corrected himself, saying: “I misspoke, I misspoke. Janice Rogers Brown is what I meant to say.”

I have heard many threats and messages to President Bush on who he could nominate. It will be very interesting to see what happens and who he chooses. Many are speculating and there are some very good choices apparently.

Isn’t it interesting how abortion seems to be everyone’s main concern?

Fitz . . .yes. Roe v Wade is the issue. It will be reversed, the only question is when. There is a growing awareness on the left that abortion has consumed the Democratic Party and halted what liberals see as progress. Some are, in typical mindless fashion, starting to chant “Let go of Roe”.

Recently Ruth Bader Ginsberg said perhaps Roe was decided before the public was ready for it.

The problem the left faces is, if they admit Roe was judicial activism run wild (which it was), all the other laws they could not get passed in legislatures but have been able to win in court are called into question.

To complicate matters more for them, Kelso v City of New London which rewrote the 5th amendment last week is despised by both left and right.

David_Paul:

The Democrats stated in The Deal that they reserved the right to FILIBUSTER Judicial Nominees in cases of “Extraordinary Circumstances”. The Republicans who made the deal didn’t understand that “Extraordinary Circumstances” included replacing a "PRO-CHOICE Appellate Judge ot Supreme Court Justices with a PRO-LIFE JUDICIAL NOMINEE! They either didn’t know, or the Principal meant so little to the 7 Traitors that it didn’t matter!

So, David, we should have NO doubt that the DEMOCRATS will FILIBUSTER ANY PRO-LIFE NOMINEE whom President Bush chooses to replace the “Pro-Choice” Justice Sandra Day O’Conner. They believe they have every right to do that per The Deal they made early last month, and the PRO-DEATH Activists who pay their bills are insisting that they invoke the “Extraordinary Circumstances” clause and FILIBUSTER the FIRST and EVERY PRO-LIFE Judicial Nominee President Bush sends to the Supreme Court.

If you think Joe Biden was out of line, send him an E-mail saying he doesn’t represnt you, and that you are supporting the fFIRST anf EVERY PRO-LIFE CONSERVATIVE SUPREME COURT NOMINEE President Bush send to the Senate.

You may want to cc or Fwd President Georg W. Bush at president@whitehouse.gov and vice.president@whitehouse.gov

This will encourage him to Nominate a PRO-LIFE CONSERVATIVE JUSTICE ELECT to replace Sandra Day O’Conner. This may also encourage 6 or 7 of the Democrats, who’d like to appear to be more “Moderate” and “Reasonable”.

It would be interesting to see if they’d respond to the stated desire of the American people.

Traditional Ang . . . I’m becoming convinced “The Deal” was nothing more than a deal to let Democrats save face.

Since it was struck, we’ve have 6 good justices confirmed. What have Democrats gotten? Nothing I can see.

Republicans have no illusions about future Democrats filibusters–they are expected. But meanwhile the GOP put off the reckoning and took some valuable ground.

Much better to change cloture rules over a Supreme Court nominee than appointments to the appeals courts.

I’m pretty much convinced we had that fight won at that time.

I’m really not so sure now - In fact, I see a lot of apathy, and a lot of people aren’t sending in their e-mails or making their phone calls or doing their novenas. Meanwhile, the Forces of Death had over an additional month to rebuild their defences.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we got our you-know-whats’ handed to us.

I’m sorry to be so pessimistic, but i have to be realistic. The Deal was very, very bad, and don’t let anyone spin it otherwise.

I say BRING IT ON!!! I hope President Bush selects Janice Brown to replace O’Conner and then Miguel Estrada to replace Renquist.

If the Dems want to filibuster a Pro-Life Woman & a Pro-Life Hispanic then so what. They will look like jerks and begin losing the minority voters who they deserved to lose many years ago.

If the Dems use the filibuster, then the Repubs need to get a backbone and get rid of the filibuster for good. If the Repubs don’t get Pro-Lifers thru like Brown & Estrada, then many Repubs will be looking to join a third party.

BRING IT ON!!!

Do Catholics enjoy Dems bashing their faith, or are they just plain stupid?

PLAL…a delightful situation isn’t it? Who, oh who, to make Democrats filibuster first?

A Hispanice male? (Emilio Garza)

Or an African American female? (Janice Brown)

Best of all they have to use their nominal “Christians” to do it. Ted Kennedy or Harry Reid. That is the “B” team. They remind everyone of the failures of liberalism. Charles Schumer, Joe Lieberman, Barbara Boxer, Carl Levin cannot take point on this. Already enough dissent within the Democratic party between Hispanics, African Americans and Jews.

… or maybe they will bring in their “F” Team as in Dick Durbin who calls himself “Catholic” (pro-abortion, pro-homosexual marriage, pro killing human embryo’s) to try to do the job. “F” stands for “Failure” & is an embarrasment to our state of IL.

Durbin will no longer attend church in his hometown anymore because Pro-Lifers stand across the street showing him pictures of aborted babies when he attends church. He now goes to the same church as Mayor Daley in the city because he knows there he will not get a lecture from a priest on abortion, euthanasia, embryonic stem cell research & homosexual acts. I won’t name the church.

PLAL:

The Democrats know the MSM is going to cover ther rears on this as they have from the first.

How many Americans know that Janice Broan is an African American female? or, That Emilio Garza and Miguel Estrada are both Hispanics from poor immigrant families?

How many of the American people know that almost everything the Democrats have said about these nominees are lies and libels?

That was one reason the Deal was so bad…We had a LOT of people who knoe that what the Democrats had been doing in the Senate was simply shameful and unacceptable, and they were all writing e-mails and making phone calls to the Senate.

I don’t know how many of those people are available for this campaign, or how many remember the treatment the Democrats had done, and that the deal didn’t stop it but just was a Cease-Fire?

Regarding the later, remember, a lot of Churches don’t metion the shameful things the Democrats say and do about Christians, and, what’s worse, many Christians who are more sympathetic towards Democrats think of us as Fundamentalists and believe that ANY kind of fundamentalism, even a belief in the infallibility of God’s Word (The Bible), is bad and poisonous to society.

I don’t know which of these groups are worse, the Democratic Elite who run the Democratic Party, the MSM who still inform most people, or the Liberal Churches who preach Heterodoxy and Apostacy. I’ll have to vote for the Churches who preach Heresy and Apostacy, because they can end up leading people to eternal damnation. NO politician or news anchor can do that.

If you haven’t, please send you e-mails to the President and the members of the Senate, esp. the Democrats and the 7 Turncoat Republicans. If you haven’t please encourage your friends to do the same.

We’re running out of time, esp. if we want to keep the Democrats from FILIBUSTRING and SLANDERING a good and decent PRO-LIFE Strict Constructionist who’ll vote to OVERTURN Roe v. Wade and other rulings based on that way of interpreting the Constitution.

Blessed are they who act to save the lives of God’s Little Ones. Michael

P.S. : Go ahead and name the parish, both Mayor Daily and Senator Durbin should see what Abortion looks like and who abortion kills. And, the priest should be embarrassed that he allows their presence to cause his silence on the subject of Abortion.

Letters To The Editor

5/26/2004 1:55:00 AM - Call him when Father Cusick next speaks out

7/28/2003 2:50:00 AM - Whatever Durbin is practicing, it’s not Catholicism

8/14/2003 2:05:00 AM - Durbin: Obey rules or quit club

8/6/2003 2:00:00 AM - Catholic Democrats are patsies

PLAL…Durbin would be great on point. He alienates everyone: observant Catholics, the military and their supporters, evangelicals. He’s even better than Kennedy.

Let’s not forget the African American support either. It is growing. Last January there was a 15,000 person strong march in Atlanta against gay marriage. Alveda King of “Silent no More” was among the leaders.

I love it! I hope President Bush nominates Brown. It will show the Democrats to be the phonies that they are, if they try to filibuster. I wonder if the 7 Republican Senators who were part of the deal would actually stand with the Dems to filibuster someone they just approved…

Extraordinary circumstances indeed.

It’s shootout time at the DC Corral.

Whatever he does, I hope he doesn’t cave.

You’d hope so, but I’m not so sure. Dems have Bush-hating so entrenched their constituents might even be selectively colorblind. Like Thomas, Rice, etc.

Either that, or just wait it out. Spend every bit of their time while dems are filibustering, preparing media presentations about these women and other propaganda, just beefing up their choice and totally ignoring the dems as if they didn’t exist.

eventually some dem will cave, i’d expect. if not, who cares? Republicans can start their own talking points, saying, “when the democrats are ready to work on the supreme court, we’ll be here.” What’s more important than the supreme court getting fully staffed? why not “shut down” until the dems are ready to get on with it, or until hopefully we get votes to override veto.

If they want to vote the women down, then let them vote against them.

😃

(Not that anybody likely to understand they are phonies doesn’t already know they are)

AlanFromWichita…right! And good to hear. One of the failings, understandable, is that after so many years of being in the minority, it is hard to imagine we have won. But we have. The momentum is with us. We are no longer explaining why we don’t want to take away rights, hurt women and so on. The pro-abortion side is on defense everywhere. The courts are their last citadel and we have the numbers to storm them.

229 year old words from the Declaration of Independence. Do they apply today?

For taking away our charters, abolishing our most valuable laws, and altering fundamentally the forms of our governments; For suspending our own legislatures, and declaring themselves invested with power to legislate for us in all cases whatsoever
