Other sheep that are not of this Fold,.those are interesting words,
Fold ,.could mean anything from Aliens to hillside tribal people that know nothing of Jesus
Plus,I seem to think there was a similar reference in the Old Testerment ,but can’t find it,

The most literal interpretation is that it refers to the Gentiles.

The image of the Shephered (Ps. 23; Ezek. 34) was used in the Old Testament to refer to the relationship between God and His chosen people, namely Israel.

During His mission on Earth, Christ preached primarily to “the lost sheep of the house of Israel” (and their schismatic relatives, the Samaritans); however, after His Passion, death and Resurrection, He instructed His disciples to preach the Gospel “to all nations” (Matt. 28).

There have been efforts to interpret this verse in terms of non-Catholic Christian denominations, or as other “work-arounds” to EENS, but the most logical meaning in context would be the Gentiles. The New American Bible’s notes support this interpretation, but they also state that it could allude to factions among the early Church, as described in St. Paul’s letters.

I’ll go with possible ET life.

Having said that, if I remember correctly, there was a reasonably rational answer given on Catholic Answers Live a while back. What I can’t recall, is just what that answer was. Blame it on old timers disease (I think that’s how you pronounce it).

Blessings,
Stephie

A fold is an enclosure used to keep a flock of sheep safe. If I remember correctly in biblical times it was a high walled area with only one entrance. The shepherds would lead their flocks in there at night to keep them safe. They themselves would lay across the entrance so no wild animals or thieves could get in to kill or steal the sheep.

The other sheep are the Gentiles.

I found this online if it helps.

*It is important to notice that Christ made the distinction as other sheep…not of this fold. “This fold” refers to the Jews who were living in Judea at that time. Jesus, being of the tribe of Judah, brought the Gospel message, from the Father, to His own people first. They rejected both the Messenger and the Message. In the “parable of the ten pounds” in Luke 19:14 we read, “But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, ‘We will not have this man to reign over us.’” Even more brutal is the account of Matthew 27:25 where they said, “His blood be on us, and on our children.”

We are left then, with the “other sheep…not of this fold.” Throughout the Bible, God refers to the people of Israel as His sheep. There is no indication that this is referring to the Gentiles. Those other sheep are the other tribes of Israel. We find in Matthew 10:6 Christ’s instruction to His disciples, “But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” The apostle James directly addressed the “lost tribes of Israel” in James 1:1, “…to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad…” The Jews also made the same reference in John 7:35: “…will he go unto the dispersed among the Gentiles?”*

Hope it helps.

From the Rev. George Leo Haydock commentary:
“Ver. 16. One fold. In the Greek one flock. The signification is the same; that is, there shall be one church of Jews and Gentiles converted. (Witham)”

This is my guess too, or it could be some form of life we do not even know about, maybe different dimensions, etc?

It would make sense for the bible to mention them, but not go into great detail, because their existence and relationship with God has no impact or bearing on our lives, I mean, if we believe God could create life anywhere, in any form, we have to assume he has some kind of plan for them as well.

Well, they say memory is the second thing to go. Can’t recall what the first is.

Sorry, no cancer jokes. I lost a spouse to that one. The others… well…

Stephie

So you wont joke about cancer because you know how it feels to lose someone to it but you are just fine joking about other diseases that other peoples loved ones suffer through? I will never understand that rational.

If I hit a sensitive nerve, I apologize. No, it’s more like I feel free to make light of my own situations. Relieves the stress.
