John Hagee............Do I even need to say anything?

“The Trail of Blood” is a booklet written by an independent Baptist Minister that purported to show that the Baptist Church had it’s roots with the Apostles. It is the most bizarre thing I have ever read. Even the Southern Baptist Convention has admitted that it has no basis in fact. The assert correctly that the Baptist denomination is an offshoot of the Protestant Reformation with it’s roots in Zwingli and the Anabaptist.

Why is there a chubby little preacher in my TV screaming at me about the end of the world and telling me to send him all my money or I’m going to hell for trying to kill the Jews?
Oh that’s only Pastor John Hagee.

:eek: I live in San Antonio.He has a mega church out on Stone Oak parkway and they do get packed in.He and others like him are a danger and a threat .It’s scary what he preaches as Auriel says.We don’t need to go to war with Iran with or because of Israel.My late father,said if World War Three starts,it will happen in the Middle East.My dad retired from the USAirForce in 1975 after 33 years in military intelligence for which he received the Meritous Service Medal with Oakleaves.He was no dummy.I recall him once saying something about Iran having nukes,long before this was ever made public,this was several years before he passed away in 1996.

I want to go to Hagee’s church when they have that Night to Honor Israel and cry out to the Jews there that Hagee is a liar and a deceiver.he is only using them for his own ends.I don’t know all his reasons for being chummy with jews,but they aren’t good ones.
I knew Bush was going to get us into a war with Iraq before it even happend.Wonder how much that has been due to outside influnce. My dad at the time of the first gulf war under Bush Sr. Dubwa’s dad said they should have gotten rid of Sadam when they had the chance.Though the reason my dad gave didn’t really
have any thing to do with WMDs at all,more geo political reasons.
I hope we don’t get into a war with Iran because of undue influence on Bush Jr. from Hagee and others.
I haven’t listened to any tirades of his on Catholics,though I’m sure he spots the usually protestant garbage.

For some reason ,some off these protestant groups like to claim they have some connection to the Cathars,a heretical sect of the Middle Ages,though St.Bernard who visited them was impressed by their sermons and said they were very edifing and christian.I’m sure you can find the quote somewhere on the web.
They really don’t claim to have connections to the Bogomils,Arians,Maniceans or other such group,but find something romantic about the Cathars.The Cathar Perfectii,or Parfaits as they were called in France went about in pairs of two,preaching and doing good works.They ate no meat,and both the men and women were celibate.But these were their priests and nuns,not the average believers.
I think the Cathars would be shocked by Hagee’s call for Holy War,as they were if I recall against swearing oaths and war.
 
Evangelicals think they can hasten the end of the world by manipulating the actions of the Jews. I saw one such group trying to return Jews to Israel, in order to fulfill a prophecy.
 
John Hagee has always rubbed me the wrong way. I try to avoid even pausing on a channel with him on it. He does have a lot of influence on many evangelical and/or other protestant ministers today though, which may be where a lot of them get their ideas. I know my dad (methodist) listens to him sometimes, but he usually prefers Billy Graham. And I know of one former methodist, now non-denominational minister that really listens to him and his preaching style is scary similar to Pastor Hagee’s

However I have a more personal interest. My older brother became a protestant minister some years ago. I believe he is associated with AOG. But the point is he is leaning well into Hagee’s theology. What I would like to know is where John Hagee gets his information and history. I know he has mentioned on another show something about a book that details how the protestent church was hidden in amongst the disciples and how these ‘real’ Christians safeguarded the true religion while the Catholics sold out to Babylonism with Constantine in 335ad.
Anyway the book had a title like ‘river of blood’ or something.
Does anyone know where Hagee gets this twisted history? I need to bone up on the specifics to try and convert my brother?

There is a lot of anti Catholic history books out there. Some are even in the Fundamentalist seminaries. They teach it-- Bob Jones University is one. Karl Keating’s " Catholicism and Fundamentalism" details a whole string of these bogus histories, the most famous is Lorraine Boettner’s -" Roman Catholicism"— full of errors- Babylon mystery religion and all that jazz. Try and read it soon. A lot Hagee is rooted in the mind set of the Bible -belt American South. Dispensationalism and conspiracy theories are still being taught by a fringe element— hopefully this is all starting to die out. More evangelicals are making the Journey Home. It think the fringe will get smaller and smaller.

You do realize that Cathers were a suicide cult and had absolutely no problem “helping” members that had second thoughts about suicide? The Cathers were an extreme gnostic sect that taught all things material were evil, as such they were opposed to marriage, advocating celebate lives or fornication for those that just couldn’t handle going without sex. And an edgarness for death, which lead to the belief that suicide was neccessary and desirable.

Hi again everybody, I have not recieved Trail of Blood yet but I did find what I think are the two of the foundational books for Hagee’s and others of his ilk rbid anti-catholicism. They are “Babylon Mystery Religion” by Ralph Woodrow ( who later recanted and wrote a book disavowing his earlier book “The Babylon Connection?” and even had the 1st book pulled from publication) The other is much older and is the basis for Woodrow’s book and others books. It is called “The Two Babylons or the papal worship”. All 3 of these books were both eye opening and stomach turning, well not “The Babylon Connection”.
I found that almost all of my brothers rubbish against Catholicism, and Hagee’s, can be found in them. I have had some very good discussions with my evangelical pastor brother. May take time but I hope to at least disabuse him of his most virulent beliefs
In the mean time I keep him and his family in my prayers. 👍
