We never hear anything about Rahm Emanuel. Why not? He’s not yet 60. He has the experience.

Why not? I’m not saying I’d vote for him, but I don’t think he’d be any worse than Kerry, for instance, or the other potential Dem candidates who have been named on this thread…

At least Rahm has had to deal with a budget, and manage people.
 
Who was the last mayor to win the Presidency? Even sitting Senators don’t do that well. Obama and JFK were exceptions. Governors seem to have the better chance.

I suspect his time has passed, and other rising stars in the Democratic Party will eclipse him. Kamala Harris and Elizabeth Warren, in particular. Maybe Sherrod Brown.

I agree. Kamala Harris, Cory Booker, Kirsten Gillibrand and others are among the rising stars. Besides maybe Brown, I’d even include Amy Klobuchar although she may be a bit less liberal for my particular taste. I would support one of the others in a primary but I would go out of my way to vote for her over DJT or Pence in 2020. Newer faces and a strong bench are things the Democratic Party is not as short of as many seem to think.

You are right.
But I think a stint as a mayor would be very educational for a candidate.
It’s a hard job dealing with real problems and a bottom line.
 
President Trump is proving to be very qualified after a successful first year! ☺️
 
Just ask him if you don’t believe it.

Shouldn’t that be MOST, MOST successful, though? He prefers hyperbole and repeating it.

Have you read the bill? Taxes go up later. As does the deficit. As does your Medicare premiums. The tax cut bill is a fraud.
 
The Republican Party had some rising stars. But they ended up selecting (in astronomical terms) a black hole.

They’d be even more popular if they’d eliminate taxes and tax forms altogether. Many people pay more for tax preparation than will realize a higher take home.

And as I said retirees will see higher Medicare premiums if they haven’t already. And will continue to go up higher than before. That’s revenue to the government except they hide it in SS pay.

Yes I would like to do away with tax preparation and tax forms all together.

We need a simple tax fair to everyone.
 
Another old white man. Not going to happen. The base will demand someone different and possibly closer to Sanders.
