Does Catholic belief that Saint John the Baptist was probably born (but not conceived) without original sin cause problems for non-Catholics as the immaculate conception of Mary does?
The CC does not teach that John the Baptist was born without original sin.Does Catholic belief that Saint John the Baptist was probably born (but not conceived) without original sin cause problems for non-Catholics as the immaculate conception of Mary does?
Well, Adam and Eve were born without original sin too, but, as we all painfully know, they were not immaculate.Does Catholic belief that Saint John the Baptist was probably born (but not conceived) without original sin cause problems for non-Catholics as the immaculate conception of Mary does?

I had just read that on his blog, which is why I didn’t call it a Catholic teaching. The CC does not teach that John the Baptist was born without original sin.
Here’s an article from Jimmy Akin’s blog which goes more in-depth:

It is not a doctrine. It is a tradition: the speculation is that he was freed from original sin at the moment he “leapt for joy” in his mother’s womb when Mary entered the house of Zechariah & Elizabeth. The tradition does not say that he was *conceived *without original sin, only that he was born without it.I have never heard of this and I am not at all familair with this particular beleif.

Adam and Eve were created by God free from original sin. They were not “born” nor were they “conceived” immaculate.Well, Adam and Eve were born without original sin too, but, as we all painfully know, they were not immaculate.
