Joseph Smith and the Need for the Restoration

Religion can do that for people regardless of their religious faith. Just look at Saint Therese and her conflicts with atheism as a cloistered nun. She live in a very atheistic country, a country that would have tried the faith of most people. And then there was her dark night of the soul where she suffered from thoughts of atheism. If she wasn’t religious she could have avoided that confusion.

Does Catholicism or Protestantism ever cause confusion in people’s lives? I think so.

I see court as having a change of heart. But his he confused? Who knows. I would not assume anything.

I just went over quite a few of “theCourts” and “whyme’s” posts…I would have to say you’re right. I saw this was mentioned yesterday as well.
I find it Creepy. Either way though I find pretty useless to engage either in a discussion, neither have a firm grasp as to what they…he/she…uh…whoever claims to believe. They are here just to arouse contention.
Like the saying goes, “you can fool some people sometimes, but you can’t fool all the people all the time.” Ironic you could say that about Mormonism as well.

teachccd do you have a copy of the Book of Mormon and a conviction of the truth of the book? Of course not, you would be a member of my church speaking by the Holy Ghost of its truth and continue the agenda of Anti Mormons.

I love you folks who quote the Book of Mormon and use it for their purposes to prove or validate their claim that it is man made or Joseph Smith was crazy versus actually never denying the First Vision.

Would you like me to start quoting the Cathecism of the Catholic Church and using it to my advantage, particularly to show Catholicism’s lack of being the true church?

happy to help out with the light hearted humor mrparker also im no rocket scientist, but after reading why me and the courts post. i dare say they are one and the same person. and i dont think he/she has either the Mormons or Catholics best intrest at heart.lol! anyhow. love reading you and dianas post. its great to have lds members who know what they are talking about. learning alot from you two. prefer to actually listen to the other side,than take someones word for it. hopefully these forums are as edifying for you, as they are for me. theCourt/why me, we love you, just um, not sure what you stand for, and see more contention aroused by your posts than understanding and edification. Read through the Bible, The Book of Mormon and Doctrine and Covenants, and the catechism and whatever else suits your fancy, but please, study hard. I would have to say mrparker, I haven’t had a lot of discussion with you but I like the way you handle things. Me I’ll admit I’m weak, I give in to frustration, and I’ll let my temper get the better of me. You are a good example, I’ve gone through a few of your posts and enjoy what you’ve had to say thus far. You have a god spirit about you. Just wanted to let you know that.

In a much publicized and watched event, after doing so once, sucessfully, he attmepted to cross the Genesee River a second time, and plunged tragically to his death in front of the horrified crowd.

The public was so traumatized with guilt over the young man’s death, and their supposed hand in it, it sparked a massive religious revival.

Perhaps Joseph Smith, too, was influenced by this mass examination of conscience/search-for-the-meaning-of-life that most people were going through at the time. It’s hard to believe that one man’s tragedy would be so influential, but, according to local historians, it was.

hi bill, negative. im saying the court is neither Catholic nor Mormon. cannot figure him out except he seems to want to agitate the two camps agains eachother. dont know what thecourt/whyme is.

Now I ask again, if Catholicism’s profession of being the true church were accurate, why would God the Father and Jesus Christ tell Joseph Smith not to join any church?

“While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.”

I’m still wondering how Jesus could keep the eleven (none of them is lost) that were chosen to follow him while in the world but could not do so any longer while out the world?

So after he left, the church was all up to the man’s agency?

What about Lazarus, being 4 days dead stinking rotten, did he have a choice when Jesus cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.

How am I to trust Joseph Smith that after Jesus left this earth that He couldn’t hold His church from apostatizing?

yes the mormon church encourages its members to live good christian lives by obeying the commandments. and loving God and neighbor…maybe someday youll learn how to do this too! hopefully if i ever do have a neighbor who is mormon, its not you. dont think i could take the drama…
