I have already retained a lawyer and provided funds for a lawsuit against the LDS Church if you try it on me -
That is the funniest thing I ever heard. I had never heard of dead folks suing a living one! :rotfl:
Let me state for you now I reject Smith and his followers and his heretical teachings religion Now and Forever amen
And let me state for you that if you reject Joseph Smith as a true prophet of God, and the divine messege he received from God, and do not repent of it in this life, you will be damned.

You realize that no Catholic believes that, right?

You have now

Smith was a con and you fell for it

It’s insulting that Mormons “baptised” the Pope after his death because it completely disrespects what Pope John Paul II taught and believed. If the Mormons who decided to do this, did so because they thought PJPII was a good man, instead of doing their dead baptism ceremony they should investigate how a man so obviously filled with Christ could have been entirely shaped by Christ’s goodness in a supposedly apostate Church.
What if the baptism was done by someone who had been related to him? Most proxy baptisms in the LDS Church are done by their own living relatives.

zerinus

And what has that got to do with baptisms for the dead?

zerinus
Maybe we should start a new thread about that link because it’s too full of interesting details to ignore.

For instance:
Mormon Temple Ceremony:
THE GARDEN OF EDEN DRAMA
http://nowscape.com/mormon/mormcr1.htm#index
Elohim actually comes down to earth with Jehovah to create bodies
for Michael, who becomes Adam, and Eve. Adam and Eve are placed
in the garden by Elohim, are tempted by Lucifer, and Eve succumbs and eats the forbidden fruit. Eve convinces Adam to partake
also, then recognizes who Lucifer really is. **Lucifer instructs
Adam and Eve to make fig-leaf aprons to cover their nakedness
**when they hear Elohim and Jehovah coming. All the patrons don
bright green fig-leaf aprons with Adam and Eve
, which they
continue to wear over all of Elohim’s Priesthood attire
throughout the remainder of the rituals. Elohim is outraged, and
curses Lucifer, who according to LDS doctrine will never have a
body, to crawl on his belly and eat dust forever. Lucifer deifies
him to his face, and ignores his curse throughout the following
scenes. He is cast out, then Adam and Eve are cast out with him,
to join him, but only after they make a secret covenant with
Elohim, and receive a secret token (handgrip), with its name,
sign and penalty (blood/death oath).
I don’t understand this. If it is Lucifer who instructs Adam and Eve to wear “green fig-leaf aprons”, why do the Mormons in the ceremony do as Lucifer requested?

And this is unfortunate, a Mormon husband gets to decide the fates of his wives:
Mormon Temple Ceremony:
A Mormon husband must know his wife’s (or wives’) new name(s).
He normally learns this by representing the Lord behind the Veil,
and taking his wife through the Veil Ceremony when she is
receiving her own Endowments. She is not allowed to know his
“new name” under any circumstances. This is because the Lord
calls forth only the Priesthood holder, and it is up to him to
call forth his wives, if he wants them, or leave them behind if
he doesn’t want some of them.
I can start a new thread about that website, if anyone else is interested in joining the discussion.

I am not aware of any relations of Pope John Paul II who are Mormon. How far back do we have to go? I mean, everyone of European ancestry is said to descend from Charlemagne. By the LDS logic, anyone who is related even if it’s 15 generations back can speak for a dead “relative”. So, essentially every dead person of European ancestry could be a target of this ceremony.

And I also realize that no atheist believes in true religon. And so?

zerinus
Yes, but you are talking to Catholics and we don’t believe in Mormonism so you are wasting your time telling us to accept Joseph Smith as a prophet or go to hell.

So you are that knowledgeable about JP2’s lieneage and ancestry?

Exactly! There is no law in any country as far as I know making vicarious baptisms for the dead illegal.

I was doing no such thing. I was merely giving an appropriate response to someone’s post.

O.K. I realize, yes, this is changing the subject, but I checked out that link. What is “magic underwear”?
Seriously, though. I’m really interested in learning about the magic in “magic underwear”. I’m not making fun. It just sounds intriguing but the website doesn’t really explain because, I suppose, they assume a knowledge by the reader as to what this is. I looked “magic underwear” up on Wikipedia.org but the subject is not in their encyclopedia. The article with the highest relevance (8%) was “Granny panties”. I don’t think that’s what we are talking about here. Can anyone help me with this? Or should I just start a new thread?

Changing the subject won’t get you anywhere my friend.

what do they do if we are already baptised?
The LDS do not recognize as valid any other Church’s baptism. So if a baptised person joins the LDS Church, he must be re-baptised. Also, if a Mormon gets excommunicated, then wants to come back into the LDS Church, he must be re-baptised.
