Hello,

I was wondering if there was another theme released that somehow I have missed for the coming year? and/or is there any literature I can be pointed towards on what the customs/rules are as such to choose a theme? Period of times allowed for next theme etc… .

It’s not over just yet.

Themes are generally announced on the usccb website…which I go to regularly for my job.

I’ve heard nothing yet.

I thought he was asking what the next theme might be…I don’t think he believes we can stop being merciful after the 20th. 😊

Well, this is what I’m seeing elsewhere around the web … quotations from St. Faustina’s Diary.

Before the Day of Justice, I am sending the Day of Mercy. (Diary 1588)

He who refuses to pass through the door of My mercy must pass through the door of My justice. (Diary 1146).

… That said, God has a plan.

And I like what po18guy has said. “The year of mercy planted a seed. The rest is up to us.”

One is a literal door, the other is figurative, but whatever. 🤷

If I may ask, what do you mean by the “but whatever” and the shrug emoticon?

Please know that I am open to charitable discussions and even courteous disagreements, and look forward to exchanging opinions in a friendly environment.

Here’s hoping we can continue on with the theme of mercy, both within this thread, as well as out in the larger world, all the while acknowledging God, taking the next right step, and being a sign of hope to others.

2017 is the 100th anniversary of the reported apparitions at Fatima by the BVM.

EWTN radio had a Fatima expert on one of its talk shows today (11/18/2016) and he was wound up about it like a clock.

Now, in general, the Church does not require our belief in private revelations, like Fatima, but watch the spectacle of so many demanding our attention.

I like what you said too, po18guy!

I wonder if the OP was thinking that Catholics have a Year or a Theme every year. Sometimes we have a few special years nearly in a row, sometimes we don’t. Plus they don’t always start on say November 20 one year and end November 19 the next, etc.

And yes, the mercy doesn’t stop (or I hope it doesn’t).

During the Year of Mercy, could one go to Confession for a particular soul?

If so, was that only during the Year of Mercy and not now? Also, can you directed where that is stated for the Year of Mercy? I could not find it.

Thank you.
