Talk about dishonest reporting. The media in the UK is just up to no good as usual. This article is just simply a bunch of dribble.

No ‘Makeover’ for Judas

A leading Catholic has criticised the Times newspaper over a recent article about the Church’s teachings on Judas Escariot. Fr Allen Morris, Secretary of the Christian Life and Worship Department for the Catholic Bishops of England and Wales, cited the article, printed last Thursday, which indicated that the Church was to “rehabilitate” its teachings on the apostle as “misleading”. “From time to time people wonder, not uncommonly, about the fate of Judas,” said Fr Alan Morris. “But the issue at hand it is not just the salvation of Judas but what our teachings on salvation say about us, which raises interesting questions when applied to people like Hitler or child abusers- is anyone beyond the reach of God’s compassion and mercy?” The article in the Times reported that a campaign was underway, led by Mgr Walter Brandmuller, Head of the Pontifical Committee for Historical Science, to change the way Catholics look at Judas and the way he was treated by Jesus, as part of the Vatican’s attempts to better Catholic-Jewish relations.

I hope this is not too far off topic but the thread brings me to a concern that I have. My step grandson was here after a party with his brother and had a rubberband on his wrist that had WWJD hand-written on it. I said “oh, what would Jesus do?” and he said you remember nervously. At the time I thought he replied that way because I’m the only active Christian he’s around.

I did a search to find a nice bracelet for him but in the search came up with this new thing ‘what would Judas do?’ After reading on these websites, it was quite frightening. They seem to be satan followers and compare Judas to Jesus, implying suicide is a good thing.

This young man is with my daughter, he is her half brother’s child so although he’s always known me as gramma, I’m not and don’t feel I’m in a position to question him on it.

Anyone know anything about these cults? Think I have a reason to be concerned?

A Drive to Clear Judas’ Name? Hardly, Says Official
Monsignor Brandmüller Calls Media Reports Baseless

VATICAN CITY, JAN. 19, 2006 (Zenit.org).- The Holy See has not launched a campaign to rehabilitate Judas, the apostle who betrayed Jesus, says a Vatican representative to whom the media have attributed words he never said.

The question arose after the news that the Swiss-based Maecenas Foundation for Ancient Art and U.S.-based National Geographic magazine intended to publish at Easter the content of a first-century manuscript, with the apocryphal gospel of Judas.
See any retractions yet?

None that I’ve seen. The media continues to slander the Vatican and same way they did when accusing Pius XII of turning a blind eye during the holocaust.
