Jude Wanniski has an incisive introduction to Gary Hart’s Washington Post op-ed piece on the Iraq war (the link includes the Hart op-ed):

antiwar.com/wanniski/?articleid=7109

Please note this sentence in Wanniski’s preface:

"Once he [President Bush] announced last week that he thinks we have to ‘honor’ the fallen dead by sending more young American men and women to their deaths, I concluded he has come to the end of the string of feeble justifications for the war."

Wanniski and Hart are rightly critical of the Democratic Party for supporting the insanity of invading Iraq. What I would point out to these two commentators, however, is that the Democrats’ abysmal failure on the killing of both Iraqis and Americans in Iraq should come as no shock given the fact that the Democratic Party is the party of the legalized killing of the unborn. (The Republican Party leadership also tolerates the continuation of legalized abortion; it’s just that it’s not as vocal about it.)

The ultimate political solution for Catholic pro-life and pro-peace activists is neither the Democratic nor the Republican Party, but a Catholic Labor Party or a Catholic Social Democratic Party. This party would be simultaneously pro-life (with no illogical exceptions), pro-family, pro-worker, and pro-peace. It wouldn’t hesitate to use the self-designation “anti-war.”

Keep and spread the Faith.

What a bitter falsehood that statement is.

I think this is wishful thinking on Wanniski’s part. It definately doesn’t flow logically.
