New Zealand Justice Cameron Mander yesterday handed down a decision saying that a former justice minister made no error in ruling that a former Catholic brother, Bernard McGrath, can be extradited to Australia stand trial on more than 250 sexual abuse charges.

In 2005 McGrath was found guilty in Australia of 21 counts of sexually abusing minors. In 2012, prosecutors in New South Wales leveled an additional 252 charges against him, alleging that he abused children in Church-run institutions for decades. In November of that year McGrath left Sri Lanka for Christ Church, where he was arrested and where he’s remained fighting his extradition.

More proof that we are part of the church militant, not the church triumphant.

Bad headline. Shame on the newspaper. Misleading. He is still Catholic, he is an ex-brother.
