Judge Mitch Perry today in Louisville, Kentucky denied the shock probation request of Fr. James Schook, who was convicted in April 2014 of three counts of sodomy and one count of indecent or immoral practice for molesting a teenage boy. Fr. Schook was sentenced to 15 years in prison.

It appears he is dying of cancer. As we don’t know the reason the judge denied the probation, it is hard to say “good”. It would appear that within a reasonably short period of time, it won’t matter.

I didnt think someone could be charged with ‘Sodomy’ anymore…? Didnt they change this law years ago, when the homosexual community started complaining about this being a crime directed towards being gay?

Each state determines which laws are actively on the books, and which ones are not. It would appear that Kentucky still has this law active.

And not to make too fine a point about it, but iA am not sure the gay community would wade in on something having to do with the Catholic Church; not seen as exactly supporting their lifestyle…

something is not right here, according to this, the supreme court struck down ALL sodomy laws in 2003, also this says KY did away with this law in 1998-99…strange they are still charging people with this…?? I wonder how they can get away with this?

Perhaps because the victim was a juvenile? Georgia has an Aggravated Sodomy statute when there is a lack of consent which, of course, someone underage cannot give.

All sodomy laws were not shot down. Juvenile sodomy laws are an extension of statutory rape laws.
So, if 2 homosexual juveniles (Males) engaged in sex with each other…this would be sodomy and they could be arrestd and/or charged with this then?

Depends on the wording of the statute and age of consent. Usually they are used against adults who pray on minors and it applies regardless of the sex of the victim.
