Just a Question Out of Curiosity

Tony, I never used to but since having a child who does it quite freely, I have started to do so. Gotta love catholic school education (sometimes).

Making the sign of the Cross (for me) is a reminder that I am covered by the power & protection of the precious blood of Our Lord.

I sign myself when I am about to eat, when I pass a Catholic Church and also when I leave my house. If I am with people when I do this I notice that they do it too. wow! It is great to have an opportunity to share why it is so important. every action counts.

It’s one way to get folks thinking, so do it. Your not ashamed of being a christian are you.
some people bow their heads and fold their hands and pray in public. others don’t think it’s appropriate.
What do others think about this?

I always make the sign off the cross in public when time calls for it. I’m not afraid of showing my faith.

I personally do not make the sign of the cross when I go out to eat in public…but do ya’ll???

I used to not do it, but now I try to… for the past couple weeks, I’ve been making the sign of the Cross whenever I eat in public. It was very intimidating at first, because I go to a (secular) university, but I’m getting used to it… I think it’s a great witness.

I cross myself when I eat in public. I also cross myself whenever passing a Catholic Church. I was a little embarrassed to do it initially, but now I’m proud to do it. I’ve had a couple of occasions where people have approached me and started chatting about being Catholic, which is very exciting. I’m happy to share my faith even in a small way such as this!

For us the sign of the cross is simply part of prayer. It is the “doorway” by which we enter into prayerful contemplation. Whether this prayer is a quick Grace before meals, or deep and singular contemplative prayer, makes no difference to me, the sign of the cross is my starting point.

I have never had anyone object.
