Please stay on topic…the thread is not a call for one side or the other to say, “but they did it too!”

The intent of the thread was to address perceived and actual gaffs by the administration.

Rationalize them or debunk them without spinning off into a new topic.

I’m reading the article and I’m really having a hard time seeing that Conway has done anything that countless other administration officials of both parties have done.

Again, this thread is not about a single gaff, but how it looks in totality with ofhers, and not “they did it too!”

If Conway didn’t do anything that countless other administrations have done without raising question or concern, why should this be considered in totality with anything?

I would like to see an actual transcript of what she said. The White House reaction was that what she said was the President Trump wanted someone elected who would support his agenda, and when she was pressed to oppose the election of Doug Jones or to support the election of Roy Moore, she refused. If that is true, then this is all a big nothing-burger. But if she did speak in opposition to Jones or in support of Moore, that would be another matter altogether.

Just wondering if in totality anyone, right or left, chalks it up to political ineptitude and sees it as a detriment to having confidence in this administration…its clear you dont, but the justification that its a common event in politics (and i tend to agree with you) skirts the issue of whether all the gaffs collectovely are excusable or an indication of a hapless group.

I’m sure things of similar nature happened under the Obama administration. But they had a wholly-owned subsidiary in the media. Trump and everybody associated with him is under an electron microscope.
I honestly wonder about people’s memories sometimes. Several Obama officials violated the Hatch Act. The incidents were widely reported in all media outlets. There’s no electron microscope involved, just basic reporting of the facts.

I’m still not seeing why you would call Conway doing something that officials in every other administration, regardless of party, has done a “gaff”. It seems like precedent would make it a routine event rather than a mistake of some sort, or, as the OSC is asserting, a violation of federal law.
