Bit of an update: I saw my dentist for a routine checkup today, and he took some extra xrays to ensure that I didn’t have some problem like a low grade infection causing all of the swelling in my neck. Thanks be to God, I don’t.

But he felt my nodes, and most were swollen and somewhat painful. My thyroid is huge on one side. 😊 There’s a lot it can be, and at least I can go to my doctor’s office armed with that information tomorrow. A thyroid problem would probably account for the bizarre mood swings and panic attacks.

CatholicNerd, I had a friend who had a similar thyroid condition and had to have thyroid surgery. She is now doing fine. Trust in God and in His Will for you and know that many people are praying for you!

***There are many issues that can arise with the thyroid but many are easily resolved, so stay positive. ***
I have had thyroid problems in the past and am now off all meds and feel fine.

You can expect perhaps bloodwork and various scans to rule out the possibilities.

I will be praying for your healing.

Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion inexhaustible, look kindly upon us, and increase Your mercy in us, so that in difficult moments we might not despair, nor become despondent, but with great confidence, submit ourselves to Your Holy Will, which is Love and Mercy itself. Amen

Still praying. Hopefully this will be the source of your problems and can be cured!

My appointment is later this morning. Thanks to your prayers, I am feeling a thousand times better than I did when I made my first frenzied post on this thread. God is definitely holding me up at the moment, and that’s pretty ok by me. I’ll let you know what’s up.

Blessed Mother Mary, pray for this person who is suffering.

St. Dymphna, please also pray for this person.

praying for you and all the anguish you are going through.

God will not give you something you can’t handle. no matter what “state” you are in keep on praying and know that everyone here loves you too!

Well, I got a solid three hours of sleep. Which is better than not getting any sleep at all, I guess! Thank you for your prayers. I definitely have a renewed sense of hope that my doctor will be able to figure out what this is.
Catholic Nerd,
I will pray for you tonight and keep you in my prayers. I have been there and it is one of the worst feelings in the world to be so anxious and depressed. I pray to Saint Dymphia and she has helped me a lot. I also say many times a day (Sacred Heart Of Jesus I put All My Trust In You) This also helps me.I will pray for you also and hang in there it does get better. I keep mom4 truth in my daily prayers also and wonder how she is doing. Please have a good night tonight,
Prayfully, sprouts

I thank you all for your prayers. My wife and I went to a friend’s wedding last night in central California. The Mass was lovely and the reception was enjoyable. For a brief moment, I truly felt as if I had my “marbles” back, so to speak. At the moment, though, I’m mired in melancholy, wondering how I can possibly face the next fifty or sixty years of my life like this, and I’ve barely been able to move.

My psychiatric evaluation is tomorrow. Pray that the doctor will give me his full attention and concern, and that a concrete diagnosis can be made. I have God’s work to do and a wife to support. She still assures me that I am not a burden to her, but I can see her furrowed brow and nervous nail-biting… I feel awful. This was never supposed to happen.

Your intentions will be in my prayers.***

Here is a very tranquil and peaceful prayer to Our Lady of Lourdes. She helped and St. Bernadette helped me a great deal a couple of years ago when I had an accident and was on a cane for several months. Please know I am saying this for you, and hope that you will pray it as well. God bless you.

+++

Dear and blessed Lady of Lourdes, you bathe all in your radiant light, and soothe the suffering with healing waters of the spring you revealed to Saint Bernadette. Though I am far from your sacred grotto look with compassion on me. See my need for your healing grace. See how my body fails me. See how troubled is my soul. I beseech you humbly not only for healing, Mother Immaculate, but to wash away my doubts and misgivings, to solidify my faith, to open my heart to your healing love, and the love of your Son, thus to see that this suffering which now seems so overwhelming my soon be vanquished and forgotten. Amen.

Lord of healing and mercy, look with immense compassion upon Catholicnerd, granting peace from on High to restore this soul. Lord, place a crucifix in Catholicnerd’s right hand, so that our Lord and Savior might be clutched to the bosom for peace and comfort. Grant that spirit-filled doctors, nurses and technicians are sent to heal and comfort, so that a sense of normalcy is maintained. It this be a spiritual attack, we humbly pray that Saint Michael the Archangel employ his heavenly sword to force the demons back to hell. Rebuke them, lord, as they torment Your chosen. Humiliate them Father, as you come to the aid of Your family. May all powers of Heaven be brought to bear for the healing of this precious child. We ask this in the name of Christ Jesus, Your Son, Who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, One God for ever and ever. Amen! Alleluia!

Thanks for your continued prayers. I ended up missing my appointment on Monday due to a scheduling error, but God was kind enough to direct me to a doctor who can see me tomorrow here in Los Angeles. My wife and I are sitting in our new apartment surrounded by all of our still packed things, and I just can’t muster any energy. I’m just floating at the moment, really. It’s distressing.

I am a Catholic. I should not fear sickness or death. But I find myself so transfixed on it these days, worrying and wondering if I’m just going to slip away. I can’t understand the paradox. I’m praying that God will grant me courage and clarity of thought as I struggle with this depression, but I think I still need a lot of help. Could you continue to pray for me?

Continued prayers.

Have you zealously prayed a spiritual warfare prayer? Try it. The Liar and father of lies cannot withstand it. 👍

From today’s Liturgy of the Hours:

Prayers and Intercessions

Christ, through whom his Father’s glory shines, enlightens us by his word. With love we pray to him:
  • King of eternal glory, hear us.
Blessed are you – our faith comes from you and leads us to you as its fulfilment:
you have called us out of the shadows into your wonderful light.
You opened the eyes of the blind and made the deaf hear:
help us when we do not believe.
Lord, may we remain always in your love:
let us never be separated.
Make us resist temptation, and when troubles come, give us endurance:
but when things go well for us, may we remember to give you thanks.

Our Father, who art in Heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those that trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

Lord, remember the new covenant, which has been sealed with the blood of the Lamb.
May your people receive forgiveness for their sins
and move ever forward towards redemption.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God for ever and ever.
Amen.

I have continued praying for you, and good luck with the new doctor! You are in the city of Our Lady of the Angels, and I think you should take advantage of the fact that you are living in a city named for Our Lady, which also honours the angels, AND which was a title of Our Lady that had a special significant for St. Francis and St. Clare as you probably know. You have a lot of local patron saints on your side!
