Just need to get through the night

Thanks for your continued prayers. I ended up missing my appointment on Monday due to a scheduling error, but God was kind enough to direct me to a doctor who can see me tomorrow here in Los Angeles. My wife and I are sitting in our new apartment surrounded by all of our still packed things, and I just can’t muster any energy. I’m just floating at the moment, really. It’s distressing.

I am a Catholic. I should not fear sickness or death. But I find myself so transfixed on it these days, worrying and wondering if I’m just going to slip away. I can’t understand the paradox. I’m praying that God will grant me courage and clarity of thought as I struggle with this depression, but I think I still need a lot of help. Could you continue to pray for me?

You will be in my prayers.***
May God go before you and be with you.

Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion inexhaustible, look kindly upon us, and increase Your mercy in us, so that in difficult moments we might not despair, nor become despondent, but with great confidence, submit ourselves to Your Holy Will, which is Love and Mercy itself. Amen

The doctor’s diagnosis was not particularly surprising. I have an anxiety disorder and depression that were both probably induced by all of the crushing stress I was under this year. His opinion is that I will respond very well to treatment and may see a complete remission in six months. I pray that this will be the case.

Conveniently, however, I was just forced to switch insurance providers because I am no longer a student. I won’t find out about the status of my application for another five days or so, and I highly doubt that they’re going to cover this, because it’s a “pre-existing condition.” So, I have the prescriptions for the cure in hand: therapy and two kinds of medication, but I have absolutely **no **way of paying for any of this after the rent is met with what little money I am making.

Pray for me as I try to find a second job. I’m terrified that nobody will want to hire me. I’m 23, and I’m a classically trained musician without *any *other kind of work experience. But I have no other option at this point. Unless I begin treatment immediately, I’m just going to keep sliding downward until I’m completely incapacitated.

Thanks,

I’m happy to hear that you’ve gotten a diagnosis. At least anxiety and depression are treatable. That’s a blessing! I will pray that you will be able to afford your medication and treatment. Our Lady will intercede for you as well as all the angels and saint. Hang in there! God bless you and your wife!

I need to amend my earlier post. I had forgotten to take care of a minor detail with my new employer, and I have now found myself out of a job before it’s even begun, under the pretext that I cannot return a phone call in a timely manner.

I am now surrounded by an apartment that I can no longer afford, medical bills that I cannot afford, and a wife who I probably won’t be speaking to for the next several weeks, if at all. My mind is playing horrible tricks on me, suggesting I should just run home to my hometown and mail my wife the annulment papers. This is a waking nightmare.

Oh boy, that’s not good. What happened? You didn’t respond in time? Wow. With so much stress going on in your life, that’s all you need right now. Talk to your wife and help her understand the situation. I will pray for you very hard and for your wife. Our Father…Hail Mary…Glory Be

Hang in there!

Yup. And ironically we moved down here two days ago specifically to accommodate their wishes. I hadn’t even signed my contract yet. What a mess.

Well, we’re just going to have pray like all get-out! All will be well!

God bless!

prayers for you and your wife. May God grant you employment, peace of mind, and some rest.

Continuing prayers for health and for employment and insurance issues as well.

With God nothing is impossible. May He grant you the grace and peace and mercy you need to conquer your problems.

Your intentions continue to be in my prayers.***

CatholicNerd, I’ve said a rosary for you and your intentions, and I will continue to remember you in my prayers, as I know all of us here will. God bless you and give you comfort. :heaven:

Today has been an amazing roller coaster. I mustered up the courage to challenge the decision, and I was re-hired. God is truly good to us. Thank you for your prayers!

Give thanks unto the Lord, for He is good. For His mercy endureth forever.

That is excellent news. Keep your trust in Him no matter what happens! Give yourself a break if you can and go to bed early and enjoy a LONG sleep this evening. It is a luxury anyone who has some hours to fill can enjoy, and it will be good for your soul and your health.

Dear one, my prayers are with you. I hope the doctor can help on the matter of sleep and any possible causes that add stress to whatever panic, depression, and anxieties you are facing.

May the God of Wisdom, Peace beyond understanding, Refuge, Comfort (are verses for each) keep you by His grace and guide you in every way, though whatever combination of means, day-by-day to truly meet the root causes of this very hard time.

My prayers and love are with you. God is faithful. :gopray2: :hug1:

Yes indeed! I am so thankful that I was given my job back.

The medication that my new doctor prescribed is beginning to take full effect. The litany of existential questions that has been invading my mind has been largely quieted, but so have most of my other thoughts. :doh2: I’ve never been drunk, but I’ve read that the effects of this medication are pretty much analogous to intoxication.

Psychiatric illnesses are so insidious! I’m very thankful that mine is quite treatable, and may never again rear its ugly head. But it’s hard to stay focused on that when my mind is constantly telling me that “something is wrong.”

I would be completely lost without your prayers, I think. Thank you so much. I’m offering this up for each and every one of you.
