It’s cute, and sweet, but a bit theologically iffy. Union with God can bring peace, confidence, and clarity. Knowing that God has got us covered can be a huge psychological boon. However, God might very well say “no” to something. My mother told me “you do the best, God does the rest”. What do you think about that?
Well…to be fair, for many highschool is so easy they think they can just say a prayer and ace a test because it ALWAYS works for them. I cannot tell you how many hundreds (probably a thousand) of college freshman that sat across my desk and told me “I have no idea why I failed”Oh thank you very much. My friend also said that If I wanted to get A in the test, I would have to pray to God and there woudn’t be no need to learn. I think he was satirizing Catholic faith too. I was so sad![]()

There is the story of a man caught in a flood. He clung to the roof of his house and prayed: “God, save me from the flood.”My friend told me that : “When you are sick, just pray to God for healing and wait for miracle. Don’t go to hospital or have medicines because doing that means you don’t trust in power of God”. I think my friend was satirizing Catholic faith. How can I respond to him? Thank you very much.
Either your friend is satirizing Catholic teaching or he genuinely has a distorted idea of what we believe. Either way I advise you to just tell him “That is not what Catholics believe. To do what we can ourselves does not mean we lack faith in God.”But I don’t know how to respond to this
