Hey everyone,

Today, I just prayed my first Rosary. Also, yesterday, I met with a local parish’s Director of RCIA and am going to begin RCIA quite soon as a Candidate. My Rite of Welcoming will occur on October 12th.

Also, I am going to make it a spiritual discipline for myself to pray the Rosary once everyday.

Welcome home, may God continue to bless you!!!
Thank you. My current concern is how to tell the Chaplain at the Episcopal Chapel House that there is a very good chance that I may end up Roman Catholic.

Wow… almost brought tears to my eyes…

I needed to read this…

(and almost didn’t 'cause wasn’t planning on going to this Forum…)

am wondering… Can you explain more about your faith walk… things like: What religion you were raised in… your first impressions of the RC Church… What made you first think of joing the Church… etc… anything else you would like to share… I like conversion stories… 🙂

thanks…

Stay faithful to the rosary and if possible daily mass. Through personal experience I can tell you that Christ will make himself known to you in ways unimaginable!
You are starting on a wonderful journey. The Catholic Church is awesome, lots to learn and know. Don’t get overwhelmed but just relax and let Christ guide you. Some days may get difficult but persevere.
Read about the saints for inspiration. I recommend Modern Saints books 1 & 2 by Anne Ball.
Welcome Home!

Praise God!

I have been praying that you would make the leap and come on over for quite some time now. I am really pleased that you have decided to formally study the faith and determine whether this is your home. I will continue praying for you.

It is great that you have begun praying the Rosary! As I have told you many times before, you will receive many graces by doing so. Don’t forget to announce your intention before praying your Rosary.

You may want to read Rosarium Virginis Mariae by Pope John Paul II. It is available free on the internet.

I always consider converts very special. May God bless you.

I have a friend who was Anglican and who converted to the Catholic Church. She said that being Anglican was “like having only one foot in the water.”

God bless you:)

I would not worry about telling the Chaplain, just tell Jesus in your prayers and He will guide you.

You should look at the coming home network website. Marcus Grodi is also a convert and they have resources for dealing with objections from non-Catholics.

God Bless You in your journey!

Mark

Congratulations. The Catholic church has deep spirituality and beauty. It is a place of rest.

Everyone will enjoy reading about your journey, thank you for sharing it. 🙂

I spoke to my Episcopal Chaplain tonight and she was very understanding and wished me blessings on my journey, but also reminded me that I will always be welcome back into the Episcopal Church.

I was very nervous about discussing my RCIA and stuff with her, but she was not angry or anything. I am thankful that the discussion went well.

On October 12th is my Rite of Welcoming!!!

I am glad that she took it with understanding, patient and love.

I do encourage you to keep praying Rosary everyday if you could. Even when you feel sleepy, pray with what you can.

God bless you on your journey!

:clapping: Congratulations and welcome aboard! Since you already have an interest in the Rosary I will post the fifteen promises that go with it.

In the thirteenth century, Saint Dominic and Blessed Alan received the following promises from Our Lady for all those who faithfully pray the Rosary:

  1. *]To all those who shall pray my Rosary devoutly, I promise my special protection and great graces.
*]Those who shall persevere in the recitation of my Rosary will receive some special grace.
*]The Rosary will be a very powerful armor against hell; it will destroy vice, deliver from sin and dispel heresy.
*]The rosary will make virtue and good works flourish, and will obtain for souls the most abundant divine mercies. It will draw the hearts of men from the love of the world and its vanities, and will lift them to the desire of eternal things. Oh, that souls would sanctify themselves by this means.
*]Those who trust themselves to me through the Rosary will not perish.
*]Whoever recites my Rosary devoutly reflecting on the mysteries, shall never be overwhelmed by misfortune. He will not experience the anger of God nor will he perish by an unprovided death. The sinner will be converted; the just will persevere in grace and merit eternal life.
*]Those truly devoted to my Rosary shall not die without the sacraments of the Church.
*]Those who are faithful to recite my Rosary shall have during their life and at their death the light of God and the plenitude of His graces and will share in the merits of the blessed.
*]I will deliver promptly from purgatory souls devoted to my Rosary.
*]True children of my Rosary will enjoy great glory in heaven.
*]What you shall ask through my Rosary you shall obtain.
*]To those who propagate my Rosary I promise aid in all their necessities.
*]I have obtained from my Son that all the members of the Rosary Confraternity shall have as their intercessors, in life and in death, the entire celestial court.
*]Those who recite my Rosary faithfully are my beloved children, the brothers and sisters of Jesus Christ.
*]Devotion to my Rosary is a special sign of predestination.

So far, since Saturday, I have prayed the Rosary at least once every day (often more).

When I pray the Rosary (or any written/pre-planned out prayer), I often worry:

A) That I am mispeaking a word or something and botching up a prayer or miscounting a beed on the Rosary
B) That I am not really necessarily thinking/meditating on the prayer I am saying or the Mystery in the Rosary and that my mind wanders, especially as I repeat Hail Mary
C) I worry that the Blessed Virgin and/or God Himself are not accepting my veneration/prayers because my mind wanders or I fear I am not truly meditating on the Mystery
D) In general, I worry that when I pray (esp. off of written prayers or things like the Rosary) that I am being insincere or falling into vain repetition or into viewing it as magical/superstitious.

I admit I deal with Scrupulosity/OCD. Any suggestions for this?

In the approved apparitions of Our Lady of Akita, Mary told the sister not to worry about form so much. Sorry that isnt the exact quote but the general idea. Mary knows our minds wander, that we miscount and things like that but our effort and prayers still count. In personal prayer effort is more important than form.

I used the analogy of saying the rosary is like playing the piano in another thread, and I think it still applies here. You are a new piano player/ rosary prayer and of course you will make what seems to be a lot of mistakes but your heavenly Father loves to hear your effort and is so happy you are trying.

don’t have more than a minute to respond… but i just let my mind wander (sometimes) because that means the things i am thinking about are being prayed about… I feel this wandering is a good thing… most of the time… 🙂

What if I have trouble meditating on the Mysteries? I mean, I recite the Mystery at the proper time (between the Glory Be and the Our Father), but usually when I pray the Rosary, my mind locks in on the "Hail Mary"s or even wanders. I will try to think about the Mystery, but it is hard.

Does the Rosary “not count” if one does not meditate (although they recite the Mysteries)?

I am adding the Chaplet of Divine Mercy to my daily discipline. Thus, I’ll pray the Rosary and Chaplet both at least once per day.
