Especially since it appears that Sidious’ greatest power is to use the Dark Side to cloud people’s judgement.
Exactly. I also think this movie did a good job of showing why the Jedi aren’t supposed to marry: marriage is possession which can lead to the abuse of their powers.

Anakin was so obessed with saving Padme’s life, coupled with his tendencies to be irrational at times, opened the door for Palpatine.

I really enjoyed this movie. Although the acting was flat (again) there were bright spots. Particularly Ewen. The last scene between him and what was left of Anakin was REALLY good. I loved the emotion he showed.

It was also fun to see Yoda battle again…and who knew that R2 could kick butt so well?

Anyways…I enjoyed it!

Hello All,

Revenge of the Sith: an argument for priestly celibacy.

You freely admit that you downloaded a DVD of the new Star Wars movie. Did you or do you have any intention to give the creators, producers, etc. any money?

Ignore him-he’s obviously a troll

Rand Al'Thor:
Wow.

Anyway, Episode III is HIGHLY recommended. I’m going to go see it again (my uncle told me I could see it twice for him because he’s not a Star Wars fan).
I thought the movie sucked. The acting sucked, the plot sucked but I will admit the special effects were great. I went to see it only becuase I had seen the first 5 and wanted to see how it ended. The Origial three were great-the last three went from bad to worst.

Wow… society’s so corrupt that anyone who admits the truth is suddenly a troll. I’m not even sure why I’m gracing this flamebait with a reply.

I think the Prequels went from ok to better to best, inversely proportional to the screen time for Jar Jar Binks.

I think Revenge of the Sith was of similar quality to Return of the Jedi. Episodes 4 and 5 were the best, in my opinion.

Actually, the one failing of Episodes I,II, and III is that Lucas strayed from the formula that made Episodes IV, V, and VI so successful, group casting. In the episodes with Luke, Leah, Han Solo, etc… the cast was established because of how they looked and acted together, not based on their individual merits. Those episodes had great special effects (for their time), but the real genius was the character interaction. In the new episodes, it seems as though Lucas tried to cover up weak character performances with high tech special effects. I think Hayden Christiansen was about the most horrid candidate for Anakin possible. In episode II he look more like a spoiled little brat who at any moment could throw down his lightsaber and throw a hissy fit. I was hoping that Obi Wan or Padame would just hit him and tell him to grow up.
No offence, but it’s Leia, not Leah.

Oh, I can see how it all fits together… I suppose Anakin is so blinded by his emotions that he doesn’t see all of this. But that’s a LOT of blindness!
I don’t think he was as blind as people think he was, just very brash. Remember that he says to Luke (in the originals) and Padme (in this film) that he plans to kill Palpatine so that he can rule the Empire “the right way”. He never gave up the hope that he could make the world a better place through sheer force of will. His methods were completely screwed up and evil, but he really does have a youthful, naive quality that leads him to believe to strongly in his own power and goodness. His blindness wasn’t in following Palpatine, but in following himself. He never fully submitted to Palpatine’s vision of power for power’s sake, and I think that is the “good” that Padme and Luke felt in him, and what ultimately brings him back in Return of the Jedi.

Remember, he’s been told from day one that he’s the Chosen One who will bring balance to the Force. He knows that he’s got more innate power than any individual in the galaxy, and in the end he does restore the balance by destroying the Sith once and for all (he was the last Apprentice, and the Sith follow a tradition of Master/Apprentice, with the Apprentice killing the Master and then taking on the role themselves, so when he turned back to the Light at the end of RotJ…)

Excellent film, perhaps the best of all the Star Wars movies. And for those who complain about the acting and the dialogue, I suggest you go back and watch the originals without rose-colored glasses. Star Wars has been about making gems out of B-movie material from the beginning, and that’s practically George Lucas’ mission statement for the artistic side of the films. You have to judge the films within their own genre, and Star Wars IS its own genre.

Hmm, and I thought it was his power to hurl chairs at Yoda.
They were Senate debate Platforms, not mearly chairs. Show some respect man!

Yes, that is why I stopped interacting with him. He was either a troll or truly engaging in theivery and using all manner of sophistry to defend it. I can only pray for such people–I’m not going to feed the energy monster. I wonder if there should be an explicit rule against proud admissions/defenses of illegal activity.

Just a note: I DO happen to think that current copyright law and how artists receive compensation is a fiasco and that there are better ways to do it. However, there is nothing inherently unjust about them, therefore they must be obeyed unless one is attempting conscientious objection (a dicey proposition at best in this case). But Luke did not even try to meet the demands of such action–he was freebooting plain and simple and bragging about it.
