Not at all. I just wondered how you might see this work out without being full on socialism, or without losing freedoms that we currently have. From this article it seems to be working out, though I am doing research right now to sr just how “free” they really are.
Did you read the article?

They have less personal freedoms, and are much more homogenous which really helps.

but arguing that we shouldn’t try to stem the flow is like arguing we shouldn’t have laws against murder since we will always have murderers.
But . . . that’s not my argument. It never has been. I’m for border controls, proper vetting, and welcoming more immigrants.
The question is fairly simple: should we create a physical barrier or not?
Have you been to the border? I’ve actually lived in a border town. There is a physical barrier. It’s been there for decades. Trump and his followers have failed to put up a decent case for showering more money on it.
My mother is an immigrant who went through the process. I’m familiar with, and I don’t think she should have been allowed to become a citizen. She’s not an American, even though her papers say she is. She is still a British woman in every sense of the word. Calling her an American would be akin to calling me an Arab just because I moved to Saudi Arabia.
Arab is a race. “American” is not. The latter indicates citizenship - technically in any part of the Americas. The Mapuche Indian in Chile, the black Dominican, the fair-headed Argentine, and yes, even your mother, are all as American as you.

I’m sorry you don’t think your mother should be a citizen. Obviously, the State Department disagreed with you. You do realize that you’re riding on the coattails of your own birth location, right? If you don’t appreciate her emigrating here, might I suggest you return to Britain?

Yes, I am finding this out while researching the “places it’s working for”.
Homeschooling is a no no in Sweden…

In Denmark they force you to send your kids to public pre-school. They force like minded thinking, which helps maintain homogeneity of their culture. They give good support to refugees, but they must also adapt to their new country. This approach would not fly in the USA.

They are not exempt. But…
  1. if they’ve already been here for decades, maybe we look at how they’ve lived and what they’ve contributed rather than just blindly ejecting them;
  2. if people are desperate enough, or our legal immigration system byzantine enough, that they consider it better to take their chances with an illegal crossing, maybe we look at how we can fix that. Instead we have our President wanting to refuse asylees and tell even legal immigrants that “we’re full,” which is ridiculous;
  3. maybe we could not treat people who have broken a minor law as some kind of threat to our way of life, not paint then as killers and rapists, not turn it into a matter of skin color or language (have we ever cared about illegal immigration from anywhere but points south? How many incidents have there been now where people — who might be 100% American, or at least legal residents — get harassed for speaking Spanish or whatever, often by someone who specifically cites Trump as the guy who’s gonna put a stop to such things.
Concern for the law is laudable. But even God’s law was made for the good of people; actual human beings were not to be sacrificed on the altar of obedience to every letter. And whether it applies to anyone here individually or not, there is a lot of racism and nativism bound up in today’s anti-immigrant push, just as there was in past versions of it (which some of our Catholic ancestors should remember all too well).

not turn it into a matter of skin color or language
that would the the Dems…….clearly.

Citizens through democracy have the right to decide who comes into their countries.

It is the politically correct religion of the Left that is trying to make this all about racism.

Shame on them.

The politically correct religion of the Left needs to convince enough people they are victims in order to gain power. If they can’t cause enough division in America regarding this ‘oppression of victims’ dogma then they need to import them and cause division that way.

It is shameful.

As Christians looking to be the shining city on the hill we need to create more Japan’s, more South Korea’s and more Singapore’s and Hong Kong’s and less down town L.A.'s, less Detroit’s, less Molenbeek’s and less Rotherham’s.

The more areas we create of the latter, the worse we make the world and the less chance we have of creating new Japan’s, South Korea’s etc. in the future. No one will copy a failing state divided by politically correct insanity.

We will not be that shining city on the hill. We will be a failure adhering to a destructive Leftist religion.

This country has given aid and refuge to countless immigrants and refugees. It’s not like all immigrants and refugees have been refused. You only have to look to history and current affairs to see that it does. I also have worked with churches in helping refugees adjust to living here.

I don’t get why insisting that would be immigrants go through legal channels instead of illegally crossing the border equals refusing to be a Good Samaritan.

This is a very mistaken interpretation of my reason for citing the parable. I commend you sincerely on your work in assisting refugees.

Pretty sure Jesus implied very heavily if someone in need help them. Give them cloak and tunic ECT.

Lots to unpack here. First, left and right are relatively useless. No one is firmly one of the other. What opinion you hold on say gun control could be right wing doesn’t apply to your thought on say free health care. (Just as examples)
Secondly, when people in this very thread say things like:
We have held regional cultures and values, and that culminated in a civil war. Unity, not diversity, needs to be cultivated. Diversity leads to strife and infighting.
It’s not about the left. I don’t consider myself left or right because that just breeds ‘us vs them’. I see people who need help, can contribute to the world once help be it here or returning home. We don’t live in the middle ages anymore where idiolgy was a sticking point for war.
As Christians looking to be the shining city on the hill we need to create more Japan’s, more South Korea’s and more Singapore’s and Hong Kong’s
So anti religion, anti religion, political death trap and last but not lest a city where they have buildings called tomb apartments because space is so expensive they can only have bed sized rooms like catacomb shelved tombs.

Great examples.
I’m sure there’s more, but i’mma go “nighty night baby”

My peeps will know where that quote is from. Stick together faithful. Rosary is our weapon.
Those where terrible examples.

Because ya all acting like it’s an invasion and hell, even your news feed use those kinds of terms.

Who’s acting like it’s an invasion?

Not me.

I’m just for the rule of law.
