The Pope does in fact live in a place where wealth is abundant. Not only that, the Catholic Church is one of the richest organisations in the entire world.
A place where wealth is abundant? Maybe, I don’t know the income of Italy, Rome, or the Vatican. And the Catholic Church is possibly the largest organization in the entire world, so it’s amount of wealth would be expected to be proportional to that. Remember, however, that we have to support the upkeep of our churches, our priests and religious (both active and retired) our missionaries, and charities. The money that flows around the Catholic church is put towards these causes. As a matter of fact, my church just gave us all a copy of their fiscal year (or something like that, it told us where the money had come from and where it went) in our bullitiens. They also print the amount of money collected the previous week in the following week’s bullitien. Nevertheless I agree with Damascus. I’d want to see sources that say that we’re one of the “richest organisation in the entire world”
The Bible does not support this at all, and Jesus Christ (God’s Son) was probably the poorest person (materially speaking) in the Earth, yet he was rich spiritually. Mostly everything the Catholic church does involves money and paying and donating more and more money to it. Where does the Bible say that its ok to PAY THE PRIEST MONEY? Jesus Christ DID NOT PAY HIS APOSTLES. Jehovah’s Witnesses do not get paid. You might like to learn from them, as they are truly God’s people.
I’ve already spoken about this, talking about why the Church requires so many donations from the faithful. Yes, we recognize that Jesus was materialistically probably poor according to the offering made for him at his presentation in the Temple. This doesn’t mean, however, that we should ignore the needs of our church and others. By the way, when paying the priest money, it’s generally after a nuptial mass or possibly funeral mass, or when requesting a mass be said for a specific person, and the amount is generally not very much.
Jehovah’s Witnesses distribute not just millions, but BILLIONS of Bible teaching aids, and they do it all FREE and on top of that, they will visit people in ther own homes and teach them God’s Word, and this is done in 235 countries. That is also FREE.
And Catholic charities help take care of thousands of poor and disabled people in hundreds of countries. Perhaps you have heard of Mother Theresa? Her order of nuns deals only with helping the poor. There are also countless Catholic hospitals, schools, women’s shelters, and orphanages. All of this is done while preaching the gospel through our *lives *as well as words.
It is actually a REAL FACT that the average Catholic does not even know what God’s Kingdom actually is, and yet they pray for it daily, without know what it is. God’s name is Yahweh or known as Jehovah and the average Catholic does not even know God’s name! This is a disgrace when you think about it. “Hallowed by thy name” is what Jesus Christ said. JW’s are truly correct.
Really? A REAL FACT? That’s odd, because most Catholics I know happen to know the true story of the name of Yahweh, including it’s mistranslation into ‘Jehovah’ and the fact that the total translation is lost. You’re assuming and, quite honestly, being arrogant when you claim to know what the ‘average’ Catholic does or does not know.
Also Jesus Christ instructed his followers to Go therefore making disciples earthwide, and they did it from door to door as well as many other ways. Jehovah’s Witnesses are OBEDIENT to Jesus Christ’s command and they tell people about God’s Kingdom as in the Lords Prayer “Thy Kingdom Come” and that will be ON EARTH not in heaven.
Yes, and Catholics have headed this message as well, which is why we’re the largest church in the world, in every country I believe. We preach the gospel not only through words, but through our lives (as I said before). Catholics recite the Our Father (Lord’s Prayer) at every mass, so we know it quite well as well. It’s true, for instance, that the prayer says “They Kingdom come, thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven” which means that we ask God’s will be done as perfectly and fully on Earth as it is in Heaven, and we’re praying that He’ll return again soon. It doesn’t mean his Kingdom is on Earth.
Whew, sorry for the long post everyone!
