Then how is it that a law enforcement officer does not obey high moral standards by the nature of his occupation?

(And three lanuguages ----> I’m impressed!)

the moral standards of Police officers can be very high and good (however in some countries on this globe police officers are known to be corrupt)

but we believe that carrying, using and training with weapons or techniques to kill or harm people are against the will of God.

Many police officers never use their weapons. Imagine the chaos if there weren’t police officers to promote order and insure people obeyed the laws. Do you really think God is against this occupation?

I’m not talking about corrupt police officers… corruption exists because we live in a fallen world. I’m talking about morally upright police officers who put their own lives in danger protecting ours.

Would a JW call a police officer if he was being threatened or if someone was breaking into his house? If so, isn’t that hypocritical? To be against someone carrying a weapon but to call that person AND his weapon to stop the perpetrator? Assuming God is against people carrying weapons, should the JW abstain from benefiting from that “sin?”

you understand what you did paste?
Yes, I understand it and have seen it in action on many occasions…to include the Elders not coming forward when they learn of child abuse…funny, in cases like that they rely on ClergyPenitent privelege…yet claim to have no clergy…how…quaint.

So, the bottom line is that while JWs “appreciate” cops…they are seen as supporting “Caesar” and therefore a job JWs can’t do.

Emeth,

Does the JW church have a better way to enforce laws and protect innocent life when dealing with people who are not, themselves, afraid to use deadly force against a citizen or an officer and a deadly encounter ensues?

Will a JW call an officer to their home in the case of a break-in or trespassing knowing that such a situation could lead to the potential of deadly force being used? Would they then be an accomplice in the blood guilt if deadly force were used? You said earlier that a JW could be employed in a police department where their occupation didn’t require that they carry a weapon. I took this to mean, among other things, a dispatcher. If a dispatcher sent an officer to a call which ended up deadly force was used, how much of the blood guilt would be on the dispatcher who knowingly sent the armed officer to the call?

Thanks and God bless

Interesting. Thanks for the reposne. However I do not see that Yerusalyim was incorrect with his/her response. The last paragraph I bolded certainly sounds along the lines of what Yerusalyim had started. Can you explain what the difference would be between “disfellowship” which is what Yerusalyim had stated would happen and not being able to be in, “a position to hold special privileges of service and responsibility in the congregation” that the source you provided stated would happen?

God bless
Disfellowship means to be removed as a Jehovah’s Witness. A person who is disfellowshipped is no longer considered a Jehovah’s Witness unless they change their lifestyle to bring it in harmony with Bible principles at which point they may be reinstated.

Holding a “special privilege of service or responsibility” implies that a person cannot be an Elder or Ministerial servant within a Jehovah’s Witness congregation. This does not mean the person is disfellowshipped. It just means they cannot be an Elder or Ministerial Servant, Circuit Overseer, Presiding Overseer, etc.

Could they give talks at the theocratic ministry school meetings? Could they be a regular pioneer?

Also, since the positions you mentioned are held by men only, what would happen to a JW woman who chose to become a police officer? Isn’t it true that she would be viewed as spiritually weak and probably not be closely associated with by the other JW women?

There is a JW Washington State Trooper up here, and yes he carries a gun. He has for the past 19 years that I’ve known him.
He cannot however become any sort of servant in the congregation due to WTS policy.
In this respect they are sort of like the anti-gun politicians and movie/TV actors/actresses who want to outlaw guns for U.S. citizens but want their own privately paid bodyguards to own guns in order to protect them.
JW’s want protection from bad guys like any other law abiding citizen. They are just not willing to do for others, what others are wiling to do for them.

Cornelius was the first Gentile mentioned in the bible who had embraced Christianity.
Cornelius was a Centurion in the Roman Army, a man who had 100 men under his command. These men at that time were in fact considered the Policemen of their day.
No where does it state that Cornelius gave up his career as a law enforcement officer because he became a Christian.

Makes no difference. If a baptised JW…male or female…took a job as a cop…the BEST CASE scenario is the Elders would approach them, repremand them and they’d quit the job. If they refused to quit the job they would be A) disfellowshipped (DF) or B) considered to have disassociated (DA) themselves…

Either DF OR DA carry the same shunning by family and friends. My Still JW step son has not talked to his mother or two brothers in YEARS because they are no longer JWs and considered DAd by good JWs. Even when my ex-wife’s father died…the JW son would have nothing at all to do with his mother or brothers. The way JWs carry out the DF/DA shunning destroys families and is a form of emotional blackmail…I know a lot of JWs who no longer believe but won’t leave because they are afraid of losing family, friends and jobs.

As I do know a State Trooper (State Police) who is a JW, I’m not suren of what you state above to be true. However, in the 15 years i was a JW and servant I never cake across any “brother” (baptized male) or “sister” for that matter who had sought out a law enforcement job.

You got that correct, 100%👍
