I have to say that it doesn’t bother me if ID and evolution are taught in schools. I say that the states should be allowed to decide what is taught. I don’t see where the constutition mandates science.
The Constitution may not say anything about science, but it certainly says something about religion. And I do not want my children taught about some new-age sounding intelligent designer in the public schools. They can study world religion in high school or their father and I can teach them.

To be honest, I don’t want any fundamentalist or evangelical Christian stuff taught to my kids. And that’s what I think that ID is.

Being slightly not true is the same as being false. If it must be taught in public schools, it must be taught accurately within the narrow confines of physical evoilution, which has at least some reference to fossil records as a means of bearing up its theory or casting doubt upon it.
I agree that we are discussing physical evolution. I don’t know how it could be taught without at least some reference to the fossil record since that is some of the strongest evidence supporting the theory.

Peace

Tim

Yes. I mean do use the fossil record --or absence therof–in teaching it. It emphasizes the physical anture of the theory and that the theory is one of the physical sciences.
