Aside from Caveziel, Gibson, and Ricardo Maltoban (very devout, from what I here), the rest are shams, IMO… 😦
Don’t forget Alex Trebek 👍

Huh? Didn’t someone say she is 26? I’m her age, and I have 3 kids already. Since when is 26 too young to be a mother??
(clearly, she should have waited for marriage- but her age is not the issue)
You are a mature 26 (congratulations, by the way!)

She does not appear to be.

I have a brother and a brother in law who are in their 50s who might as well still be 21 the way they’ve lived their lives and view the world.

Age doesn’t really say much about a person, but their actions and lifestyles speak volumes.

My daughter is 27 with 3 and like you mature and stable. This “girl” is with a man almost old enough to be her daddy, not married. Tom is not mature enough to be father either even though he has two adopted children already, but he could teach the kids how to have fun jumping on couches:D

It doesn’t look like Katie’s parents are so thrilled after all…and I didn’t think they actually were, given that even in the beginning of TomKat, her parents were quoted a few times expressing concerns…but anyway, her dad apparently is not happy.

Well I’m actually relieved.
And the dad’s right…Tom’s a/an (expletive I can’t even conjure up in my mind, I’m that angry) for going back on his word and dishonoring his daughter.

Pray pray pray…(speaking to myself)

YYM,

I have to say I think it’s very cute how protective you are of Katie, almost as if she’s your own daughter. 🙂

Katie could be anyone’s kid. It is a shame. I’m sure the parents are devestated - not for the birth of the child, but for the entire situation. Would hate to see my daughter go through this…she seems brainwashed. No, she doesn’t seem her age either. Looks like she should have pigtails and braces swinging from a tire swing, not paraded around like a prize by a “megastar.”

exactly. I feel for her. I feel for her parents. I pray I do not have to deal with a similar situation with my own daughter or son - where they get swept off their feet with a Jehovah Witness, a Scientologist or anyone who is not Christian and loathes Catholics so much that they’d forbid him/her to spend any time with us. I think that’s what reaching my heart so much.

Nicole was wiser/stronger/more independent. Held her own ground. I didn’t give their relationship a second thought really.

His first wife (Mimi Rogers, right?) got him into Scientology and she was older. I was younger myself so I didn’t even think about how sad that was for Tom. I suppose if it were today I’d be fretting about her influence over this young Catholic star struck boy.

But Katie…and her parents…this has to be so difficult for them. These are the things which break families apart for decades and they seemed such a close-knit family. The parents have a huge challenge. May they bring Katie back to the faith and Tom along with her.

I too put my kids in these horrific situations - what If that were my kid? What would I do? How would I handle it? It’s one thing to not like the guy your kid marries - it’s quite another to see them lose their souls…

I predict this is the beginning of the end for Tom and Katie. The discord with her father will always weigh on Katie and eventually it will come out in some lover’s quarrel and she’ll blame Tom.

It’s sad that there will be a child involved. 😦

The birth of the baby is supposed to coinside with the premiere of the newest Mission Impossible movie. Coincidence? I don’t think so. The baby will be on the red carpet opening night.
Interesting. I could care less about all these idiotic “celebrities” but it just so happened I was out the other night with 2 of my pop-culture-obsessed friends who were talking about it. Just another up & coming starlet trying to grab as much attention as she can using some overrated aging star who’s trying to shore up his faltering career. Of course the baby is part of the publicity scheme. What an awful way to come into the world.

Ahhh Mr S …you do make a point…

Scientology does concern me…but prayer will help… 👍
If it’s any consolation, a Scientology center opened over a year ago in my neighborhood and I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone in there besides the Scientologists. I wonder how they stay in business.

Oh geez, and I thought our prayers would have saved her from that life…I dont’ know about you but I’m very disappointed.
Kinda weird how often you feel that way huh?

Yeah. But it gets me to adoration so maybe that’s just the Spirit’s way of keeping me focused, allowing me to ‘feel’ certain ways in reaction to things that have absolutely nothing to do with me.

Oh, please! This is pop culture obsessed non-sense.

I expected people on this site to be more mature than to even care what “People” magazine has to say about these modern pagan gods.

Gimme a break.

So we should just bury our heads in the sand and pretend all is well with the world? I don’t think so.

As fellow human beings, we need to be concerned for them (their souls) and we especially need to pray for that innocent little life that will be born into the middle of chaos.

It’s not like we are discussing a a movie star’s latest hair color…geez.

I’m baffled. Sinners will sin. I do. And when they are sinners “in the world,” or however you wish to say it, their decisions should not surprise us. They should not give rise to controversy. At least not when it’s this trivial.

And don’t give me that “A precious life coming into the world is not trivial” line. It happens everyday, and, yes, it is a great shame. I couldn’t agree more. But to use the glam of celebrities as our means of discussing sin and faith is sad.

Ignoring the negative mass media is not living with one’s head in the sand. Burying one’s head in the sand and thereby negletfully ignoring the world around you is done most effectively by consuming one’s head with that garbage.

There is a difference between critically analyzing our surroundings and buying into the very subtle danger of pop culture. One may not agree with the morals of pop icons, yet one may live with the TV Guide in one hand and the Bible in the other and still be guilty.

Geez.

The more responsibility we have, the more fame, the more weight we have on our shoulders. It is most definitely more egregious for people in the public eye to carry on in such a manor as it is the sin of scandal on top of everything else. Their actions are far more likely to be imitated by others, good or bad, trivial or major. If girls will cut their hair like Rachel’s or wear a belt like Monica or notice the eyeshadow of J Lo, they will surely witness the courting of a Catholic girl who has publicly announced she is waiting for marriage to a older Scientologist with whom she is now pregnant and planning a beach wedding.

And don’t give me that “A precious life coming into the world is not trivial” line. It happens everyday, and, yes, it is a great shame. I couldn’t agree more. But to use the glam of celebrities as our means of discussing sin and faith is sad.

**No, it is not trivial. Few sins of such magnitude could be considered trivial, no matter who was involved. Commonplace does not mean it becomes trivial. Yes. It happens everyday. Katie and Tom are simply poster children for what is going on in our world. It is worth mourning over. We use celebrities to discuss their big houses, their hair and nails, their clothing, their money. I find that rather trivial. You would have us stick to those topics and therefore dehumanize them to the level of commodity that the rest of the world has?

I would say this is the perfect argument as to why we shouldn’t be purchasing People magazine. Not over why we should be lamenting the potential loss of a Catholic to a cult, and the many more youths who might follow in her footsteps on her example.

There is a difference between critically analyzing our surroundings and buying into the very subtle danger of pop culture. One may not agree with the morals of pop icons, yet one may live with the TV Guide in one hand and the Bible in the other and still be guilty.

**I agree. But I don’t have a TV Guide. Or a working TV for that matter. Or any magazine subscriptions. I don’t even get the paper. Do have an abundance of Bibles, though.
**
Geez.
