What support does the current US adminstration advocate should be put in place? I bet it’s less than it is now.

America Magazine is a liberal, Jesuit magazine, whose editor is constantly agitating that the Church needs to be more gay friendly.

The background abortion argument has been proven false again and again, this is just fear mongering.
As far as I know, it is actually true that countries in which abortion is illegal currently have abortion rates very similar to countries in which it is legal. Making it illegal is not enough, particularly not after it has been available so widely for so many years.

Still doesn’t change the fact that abortion ends an innocent human life.

think the only way to get abortion illegal would be to ad an amendment to the constitution and there is no way that will ever make it.
It won’t make it instantly but perhaps over time…
It’s good to get started though.

I’ll bet half the population doesn’t know the ERA Amendment is still alive, pending the vote of two (?) states.

Any Barrett would have been skewered over and over about Roe, but there wouldn’t be these other issues of sexual accusations, working in the Bush White House, working with Ken Starr on Clinton, etc.

She’s a lovely Southern woman educated at Norte Dame.

I hope she replaces Ginsburg on the Court soon.

Maybe if the pro-birth lobby (let’s not kid ourselves, that’s what this is about), provided actual support to these women then abortion wouldn’t be necessary.
Maybe if the pro-death lobby provided actual help to the homeless, mass genocide against that population wouldn’t be necessary.

I’m being facetious, of course, because I don’t actually happen to see murder as a solution to sexual irresponsibility or homelessness.

Getting the thumbs down from a bunch of soft Jesuits. Yeah, that’ll show 'em!

I agree, but this is a position that it’s incredibly difficult to remove someone from. Surely it’s better to do at least a thorough due diligence first.
Perhaps, although I’m not sure if that would have been possible. They went all the way back to unproven allegations from high school here,.

In any event, there isn’t time to find anyone before the midterms. And if the Republicans lose this election, Kavanaugh is the last chance for at least 2 years for a pro life supreme court justice.

Roe v Wade isn’t going away. Legal abortion isn’t going away. Both sides stand to gain votes and contributions as long as it is around. Despite what they tell you, conservative politicians have no intention of ending it.

Why …so that the democrats can find someone else to lay slander against ?

They are catholic in name only. Everything heretical anti God anti pro life anti republican anti traditional catjolic orthodox thing you can think of is espoused by this magazine.

The headline might as well have read - CNN withdraws its support for Kavanaugh

I believe Dr. Ford. I therefore conclude that Judge Kavanaugh should not be confirmed to the U.S. Supreme Court.

How he would vote if elevated to the Court is completely irrelevant; Catholic theology teaches definitively that it is immoral to attempt to achieve good by doing evil.

Absolutely correct.
Conservatives cannot justify with, “desperate times call for desperate measures,” any more than Liberals can.

Politics is dirty business. I know because I work very, very closely with politics. There are no rules, there are no boundaries, the game clock runs 24/7, and there are people on BOTH sides who lick their lips at the prospect of ripping into opponents for the sake of the ripping. The outcomes, the policies, the philosophies, are secondary to crushing your opponent.

Of course the Dems are shredding Kavanaugh. That’s natural and normal. Of course they’re attacking relentlessly. The Rs would do exactly the same thing if the tables were turned.

Our Catholic obligation is to not be a part of that kill-or-be-killed mentality.

I’ll go to bed now, because if I type more I’ll probably get nicked by a mod.

Unfortunately, you’re right. More unfortunate, is that millions of people were duped into believing Trump would deliver it.

How do you know? Somebody could easily come out and say Amy Barrett got drunk at a party in college, flashed her groceries, and sexually assaulted a classmate.

I’m no fan of Bush, but I hardly see how working in the Bush White House or with Ken Starr is grounds for any rejection of a judicial candidate. Those experiences are the types of past work that we like a federal judge to have.

What has convinced you to believe someone whose own selected witnesses reject her story, and who can’t provide any evidence for her claims?

Because women are hardly ever accused of such things, where men in the #metoo movement are guilty until proven innocent. Even the way senators question nominees are different when they are women vs. men.

Make no mistake, I WANT Kavanaugh seated, immediately. I also want Amy on the Court. I want Roe dismantled and control given back to the States, where it belongs.

I don’t care about Ken Starr or the Bush administration work, but LOTS of enemies of the Republic do.

Pragmatic reasons matter in things political, unfortunately.

I strongly disagree with America Magazine doing this. In America we need to consider people innocent until proven guilty.

It was a very unCatholic response by them. There was nothing that proved guilt. In US, we are innocent until proven guilty.

And in Catholicism, we beleive in Mercy and we beleive people can have conversions due to the Holy Spirit.

From what I understand, Brett Kavanaugh is high involved in his Parish - attending Mass, coaching CYO, praying with his daughters, etc. If he was a sex fiend, it seems to me he had a conversion.

But I don’t think he was. I think it’s most likely a case of mistaken identity. She convinced it was him, but I don’t think it was - unless someone can provide evidence that it was.

God Bless
