There have been some interesting issues with Dr. Ford. She testified that she put the second door in her home because of her reaction to the alleged incident. And she has categorically refused to release her therapist’s notes.
In 2007 and again the next year, she and her husband applied to remodel their home and put a second door into a secondary bedroom - 5 years before speaking with her therapist. She appears to have used the room, and the second entrance as part of a consulting business she had. Additionally (and we can hear an echo about flying), they have a second home, with no second front door.
And in her comments with one of the news agencies before her testimony, she noted that from her therapy records, the incident occurred in her later high school years. That would have clearly put Judge Kavanaugh in college.
So why have repeated specific requests to her attorneys for the therapist’s notes been denied? If the notes support her testimony, one would presume they would be forthcoming at the time of her testimony. On the other hand, if there are matters in the notes which contradict her testimony (and there is the news report for one of them) then by all means those would not be released.
And any trial attorney who has been around long enough knows the psychological research on False Memories. I do not suggest that something did not happen to Dr. Ford, but there are numerous hole in her testimony, reversals of previous statements (I have touched on one), and to those who say she was a credible witness, I say they have revised the definition of “credible”.
And to those who try to move Judge Kavanaugh’s anger displayed to those who were questioning him, I would submit that a Justice hearing a case before the SC is not being accused by the attorneys presenting, of being a rapist. His anger at those charges has nothing to do with judicial temperament; it has to do with "Well, Ford’s testimony wasn’t that strong; we need to find something else to accuse him of> It is called "moving the goal posts.
