There have been some interesting issues with Dr. Ford. She testified that she put the second door in her home because of her reaction to the alleged incident. And she has categorically refused to release her therapist’s notes.

In 2007 and again the next year, she and her husband applied to remodel their home and put a second door into a secondary bedroom - 5 years before speaking with her therapist. She appears to have used the room, and the second entrance as part of a consulting business she had. Additionally (and we can hear an echo about flying), they have a second home, with no second front door.

And in her comments with one of the news agencies before her testimony, she noted that from her therapy records, the incident occurred in her later high school years. That would have clearly put Judge Kavanaugh in college.

So why have repeated specific requests to her attorneys for the therapist’s notes been denied? If the notes support her testimony, one would presume they would be forthcoming at the time of her testimony. On the other hand, if there are matters in the notes which contradict her testimony (and there is the news report for one of them) then by all means those would not be released.

And any trial attorney who has been around long enough knows the psychological research on False Memories. I do not suggest that something did not happen to Dr. Ford, but there are numerous hole in her testimony, reversals of previous statements (I have touched on one), and to those who say she was a credible witness, I say they have revised the definition of “credible”.

And to those who try to move Judge Kavanaugh’s anger displayed to those who were questioning him, I would submit that a Justice hearing a case before the SC is not being accused by the attorneys presenting, of being a rapist. His anger at those charges has nothing to do with judicial temperament; it has to do with "Well, Ford’s testimony wasn’t that strong; we need to find something else to accuse him of> It is called "moving the goal posts.

Where is the evidence, corroboration by other witnesses, or even a time or place regarding Dr. Ford’s testimony? So many holes. It is pure evil for anyone to say, with a straight face, that they KNOW for certain that Kavanaugh committed any such crimes. Based on what??

Indelible in the hippocampus is the wonderful feeling of having a conservative Supreme Court

Haha. I guess we can “fact check” all of the lies/ignorant untruths that the last 10 presidents told, then. They are all evil by those standards. “You can keep your own insurance plan if you like it, and average premium costs will decrease by $3500 per family” ranks much higher up there in scale on an evil lie than figuring numbers wrong with GDP, if you measure how it has directly affected people. And the media ate that up and didn’t issue corrections!!! So unless Obama’s is equally evil or more so, that’s a hypocritical viewpoint.

What Trump has done is WORKING for our economy, we are thriving now with the lowest unemployment in history, and the democrats cannot stand that. The US has been on the losing end of international tariffs for a long time. I can’t understand why it’s wrong or evil if we impose tariffs on a scale in line with what European countries and Canada and Asia have been doing to us practically forever. And it is objectively better for us if we are able to be self sufficient and have jobs for everyone of varying skills. I am in the antique and vintage item business and I am continually in awe over how almost every single thing I come across from 40+ years ago was made in the USA. These days it’s pretty much retail or nothing for low skilled workers and they have a much bleaker future than they did in the past. Lower income and especially minorities are doing better today than they were a few years ago, on the job front. And that kills people! Sad.
No, I’m sorry, but saying “this is how things will go in the future” and being wrong is totally different than “this is what happened” and being wrong.

I defy you to find any President who has said anything false that is on the same plane as:
“We met with the queen, who is absolutely a terrific person, where she reviewed her Honour Guard for the first time in 70 years, they tell me.” No. She’s been queen “only” 66 years and she reviews the Guard on a regular basis.
Of Hurricane Harvey, “People went out in their boats to watch the hurricane. That didn’t work out too well.”
It also didn’t happen.
“We got back our great fallen heroes, the remains sent back today, already 200 got sent back.”
No, this didn’t happen.
“California wildfires are being magnified & made so much worse by the bad environmental laws which aren’t allowing massive amount of readily available water to be properly utilized. It is being diverted into the Pacific Ocean.”
Firefights in the West said “Wha…???” because this was totally made up. Not even close.
“Crime in Germany is way up.”
No, it is down.
“We have signed more legislation than anybody. We broke the record of Harry Truman.”
No, not even close…just so far wrong. Wildly wrong.

That’s probably not a fair comparison.
As I said, you can find that people in politics make mistakes and they bend the facts. That may be true enough, but they don’t come out with whoppers like this President does. He is in a class by himself.

Having said that, he promised he’d appoint conservative judges, and that he has done. I think his overall claim to hire the best people is out to lunch, but the justices have been very competent.

Good job, again, Gingersnaps4. According the the Department Of Labor Statistics website, the 3,7% unemployment rate is the lowest since 1969. And, African American unemployment rate fell to 6%, the 2nd lowest ever (May 2018 5.9% the lowest). (In March 2010, African-American unemployment hit 16.8%.)
Current unemployment rate for women is the lowest since 1953.
This is the kind of news the Leftist media wants to distract away from.

All four of Dr. Ford’s witnesses refuted her claims.
Saying you can’t remember is different than saying “No, that didn’t happen.”

As for the economy, the sun continues to rise in the East. That must be due to Trump’s wise policies.

Anyway, enjoy your victory. It’s been lovely chatting, and I’m sure I will hear from some of you again. Meanwhile, I’ll think of you fondly on election night.

Augustinian:
anyone nominated by President Trump would have been trashed.
Really? Was Gorsuch trashed? And–in case you forgot–he ALSO went to Georgetown Prep. Minus the drinking and sexual innuendo.
Well, wait now. Why “minus the drinking and sexual innuendo?”

You just spent an entire post proving that anyone who went to Georgetown Prep in the early 80s must have come out a rapist and drunk.
OK. Let’s go back to the 80’s. Here’s a news story about women who were prep school students in the early- mid-80s. Keg-parties and assaults: Women from Catholic high schools in Washington area break 'culture of silence' Here’s a quotation from one of the women: " Allyson Redpath, who graduated from Stone Ridge in 1982, said she heard from other girls from an early age that she should be wary of the boys from Georgetown Prep, which she and several other women who spoke to NBC News said had the worst reputation for misbehavior of the boys’ Catholic schools in the area." Both Stone Ridge and Georgetown Prep are in Bethesda. Both are on Wisconsin Ave. As an example, Katie Ledekcy the swimmer graduated from Stone Ridge.

Here’s a quotation from a joint letter from several headmasters of private schools in the DC area to parents, written in 1990:

“It would be hard to devise a better recipe for disaster than a social scene that includes the anonymity provided by an ‘open party,’ no adult supervision, considerable amounts of alcohol, and teenage hormones which encourage sexual or violent behavior,"

That’s not 2018. That’s 1990.
So if this case you offer for Kavanaugh being guilty based on the debauched party atmosphere, it must equally apply to Gorsuch, who graduated from Georgetown in 1985. So where are the allegations that by all your lights should have come forward against Gorsuch?

Or, perhaps, you have to admit that some students might just have gone through the scene only mildly corrupted or not at all. If Gorsuch escaped unscathed, why not Kavanaugh?

All 5 Supreme Court Justices appointed by Republican Presidents voted to support religious freedom in the Jack Phillips customized cake case. All 4 Supreme Court Justices appointed by Democratic Presidents voted against religious liberty in the Phillips cake case.
All 5 Republican nominee Judges ruled to protect pro-life pregnancy centers from being forced to advertise abortion centers. All Democrat nominees voted to force pro-life centers to advertise abortion centers.
The results above were in our favor because Values-Voters took the time to vote for President and Senate in 2016.
However, because Values-Voters took a snooze during 2008 Election Day, we were stuck with 2 new Leftist extremist Justices (Sotomayor and Kagan) who voted in favor of same-sex marriage (4 of 4 Democrat nominees, and only 1 of 5 Republican nominees). All 4 Democrat appointees also voted in favor of Obamacare the first time, while only 1 of 5 Republican appointees did.
In addition, almost all the odd circuit court rulings you hear about are the result of 8 years of Obama Judicial appointees.
Even if some of us have to hold our noses to vote for a less-than-perfect Republican, we’ll be doing a great thing by taking the time to vote. Dan Lipinski in Illinois is the only Democrat Congressman that might be better than his Republican opponent regarding the 5 Catholic Non-Negotiables.

President Trump’s elimination of President Obama’s unnecessary job-killing regulations on businesses, as well as tax cuts, are 2 big reasons why the economy has thrived.

Sorry but that is hilarious! So many people regularly attend parties in college especially. I know people now who are some of the best in their fields and are very professional, decent, Christian and have families, who I watched do keg stands in college 20 years ago. Good.grief. Is all I can say.
I realize this is a Catholic forum, but are you suggesting one must be Christian to be a good person? Are you suggesting that I, as an observant Jew, cannot be good simply because I am not a Christian? That is racism, anti-Semitism, if you are suggesting that. Jews have a long tradition of holding the family sacred and teaching their children to see G-d in all.

She was probably using the word Christian to show that they were good, not to limit a person’s goodness by religion.

The grammar does not imply this at all.

Consider two similar statement: “I know a lot of good Christian men.” “I know a lot of good men who are Christians.” These similar statement do not imply:

Only men are Christians.
Only men are good.
or, Only Christians are good.

You still haven’t shown how you aren’t going against Christ’s teachings with this judgement you have

His friends call him an “aggressive and belligerent drunk.” Someone you don’t know comes forward and claims he sexually assaulted her years ago. Meanwhile you have a list of candidates with pristine personal backgrounds. Why on earth would you hire the guy with the cloud over his head? Do you need to “prove” the allegations?
Again, this is an absolutely ridiculous argument, all this shows is that you’re either gullible or a seriously judgemental person.
Considering these “undesirable people” you found out about is around 30 years ago during highschool days, you likely won’t care, especially if his 5 background checks you had on him shows behavior that isn’t consistent with it. Meaning if it is true that he acted that way, he surely didn’t carry it to the present.

If someone you don’t know comes out and claims he sexually assaulted her years ago, then why in the world would you instantly believe that? You don’t know her, why do you trust her right away? She could be trying to prevent this guy from getting the job.
You’d probably investigate into this since it’s a serious charge (if you ignore it then it’s immoral).
If you find no corroboration and nothing to support the claim of this person you don’t know, why wouldn’t you hire this person?

Simply because an accusation happened?

That’s absolutely absurd and gravely immoral.
