Keep SoCal in Your Prayers [Akin]

I can’t imagine how terrible this must be. Prayers for all who live there. And thanks be to God - today and for most of this week we have gotten some much needed rain!
 
I am less than an hour away from these fires. DH & I, along with our two young children, have decided to stay in until the fire is contained. It smells like smoke as soon as we walk out of our doorstep - we cannot even open our windows. Ashes are blowing by in our front yard!

My aunt and her family live in the area where people were forced to evacuate. Please pray for them, that the Lord may bless them and keep them safe. Also, please pray for all families that were forced to evacuate, as well as for all of the rescue workers that are out fighting the blazes.

I’m praying for the entire area. This morning at 3am my daughter called me and could see flames from her university campus. I was able to get her, thank the Lord! The fire is very close to us and we might be evacuating soon. please pray for all of us and I continue to pray as well.
 
There’s a fire close to my area right now! Everyone’s taking safety precautions and preparing to evacuate. Please pray for us!

My mom just called. My brother in SD has to evacuate. They will probably lose their home. My nephew Matt already did. Please include them in your prayers.

Iam sorry I have family there too. It is very scary but happens almost every year some where in the county of S D we can pray for both of our families and everyone elses.

Now, they’re saying that this year’s fires may be even worse by the time they’re done.
To the left is a map of the fire borders as of today (click to enlarge). The red zones are where the fire boundaries are. The purple areas are evacuation zones. The green dot is the approximate location of Catholic Answers.
Some staffers at Catholic Answers have either been evacuated from their homes or are unable to get to work due to road closures (or warnings that they may need to evacuate).
At Catholic Answers the sky is largely gray from smoke, and there is a burnt smell everywhere outside. Parked cars are covered with little bits of ash.
San Diego also needs to up the server capacity of a lot of their emergency web sites that serve up maps like this. Lots of them are slow as snailes or simply time out.

Yes, please pray for my daughter ,SIL, and three grandchildren. I know they have been evacuated, and I can’t reach them by phone!

Father, I humbly implore you to grant your special graces on all of these families and the fire fighters. Please keep them all safe. Send angels from heave to visit and protect, comfort and defend all who live there. AMEN
 
Katie, I’m praying for them! Please include my daughter, SIL and 3 grandchildren in your prayers! They have been evacuated to the Naval Base, and I can’t reach them by phone.

One of the big problems is the Santa Ana winds that are blowing and spreading the fires.
The winds were expected to let up last night, but they didn’t as much as expected.
It’s hoped that they will let up later today.
When I woke up this morning I saw there was an evacuation zone near Catholic Answers. I’m not sure what that is at this point, as the map is not showing fire in that area, and they haven’t mentioned it on TV.
BTW, I did a brief phone interview with Vatican Radio about the fires yesterday. MP3 here.
