Kellogg Korea’s Chex Green Onion. (Park Hyun-koo / The Korea Herald)

Kellogg Korea’s latest release, Chex Green Onion is stirring up the Internet even before hitting the shelves.

Kellogg Korea uploaded a 6-second-long video on June 17 on its YouTube channel, recruiting 50 people to try its newest product before its release. The video showed chopped green onion being sprinkled on chocolate flavored Korean cereal Chex with milk with background music with the lyrics “sorry, sorry, sorry” by trot singer Tae Jin-ah.

The video reached over 140,000 views in just two days and a total of 14,221 people signed up for the event, according to Kellogg. “Chex Green Onion” was the most searched item on many portal sites on June 17.
So, it appears there is a chocolate version and straight green onion.

There are videos on this at youtube, they are in Korean so, one can look for themselves but one video has a very American looking young lady speaking totally in Korean. I just don’t want to post it if I don’t know all she says. Note, the article does speak some about youtube videos on this.

Could be a good ingredient though, to a cereal mix!

My mind thinks of wasabi Chex, which would be a great snack but icky cereal (IMHO)

A great marketing move by Kellogg, and it’s limited edition. Wonder what’s next.

For background, 16 yrs ago they had an internet poll to see if they should go more chocolate flavored or green flavored. Green was winning the poll so they rigged the results for chocolate to win.

In the article, it shows it in milk and in a chicken broth…honestly, the chicken broth addition appeals to me more than a breakfast cereal with milk!

You can crumble up the green onion Chex, mix it into sour cream and top baked potatoes with that. It will add not only the flavor but the crunch factor too.

Or crumble atop green bean casserole instead of the fried onions. Or why not top with both?

Just a thought.

🤔

You always have such good ideas! ❤️ Thinking about it, you sure could and if the onion flavor is enough to taste oniony, would be awesome. I could also imagine it crushed and mixed in with a coating for baked or fried chicken or pork chops! Mmmmm…

Thank you.

That’s because I’m obsessed with food. 😁

Good idea on the crunch coating for fried chicken or baked pork chops.

My wife might like them. I’d be more inclined to fill the cat’s litter box with it.

You missed the demo where green chex have a sticky coating.

It might be good for clumping, but the cat would also leave with several attached to it’s body.

Sounds delicious, except after mixing the sour cream would make the Chex mushy. I’d try your idea but just wouldn’t mix them. 🤤

Just put the sour cream first on the baked potato, sprinkle the crumbed Chex on top and then enjoy.

You must eat it immediately before the crunch goes away.
