Why even ask - the American church is generally in de-facto schism. In my iberal dioceses Pope Benedict recently appointed a very liberal bishop who is pushing with a wink and a nod gay adoption. And who wrote a postive column on the Da Vinci Code.
You left the church because there are sinners in it?It is all a charade - why I left the church.
And which Bishop is that? Why even ask - the American church is generally in de-facto schism. In my iberal dioceses Pope Benedict recently appointed a very liberal bishop who is pushing with a wink and a nod gay adoption. And who wrote a postive column on the Da Vinci Code.

Well in the area he disagrees with the Bishop, it seems he removed himself…We’ll have to wait and see, what else happens…The advisor, Peter Meade–one of seven members of Catholic Charities in Boston who resigned over the Archdiocese’s decision to ban same-sex couples from adopting–maintains his position on the committee O’Malley appointed to recommend which parishes in the Archdiocese ought to be closed.
Bishop Niederlander (sp?) in San Francisco I presume. And which Bishop is that?
I’m finding PB 16 has been appointing non-liberal Bishops into Dioceses which previous had liberal Bishops or other problems.
I have been reading “How the Reformation Happened” by Hillaire Belloc. He brought out a very salient point to me when he said that the idea of the Church at peace is false. In his opinion, She has always been fighting enemies from WITHIN as well as from without. He said this in 1928. Why should it be any different in our day than in the past. The main point to me is to pray, and speak up when the time is right.
In this case he moved a liberal Bishop from one post to another. Maybe PB is hoping that California will break off and fall into the ocean? But really the Bishop is just four years away from retirement age, so maybe it was a strategic move. Like giving the oppostion a sense of false security, then???Bishop Niederlander (sp?) in San Francisco I presume.
My parish is in the Boston Archdiocese and I respect and admire Cardinal O’Malley for the way he’s handled his very tough assignment since coming on board 3 or 4 years ago. However, I agree that this column is a sign of open dissent and needs to be addressed in some capacity. I’m confident that Cardinal O’Malley will find a way to address this problem with both authority and a bit of charity. Continue to pray for his ministry here in ground zero.
YET I recall the story of a man who fell from the Empire State Building. As he pased the 20th floor a friend called out to ask him if he was okay. He responded: Okay so far.Good article, he is correct with his assessment that the world has not ended and no harm has come from the same-gender unions in the civil sphere.
Only time will tell, but 3 years and no problems so far.YET I recall the story of a man who fell from the Empire State Building. As he pased the 20th floor a friend called out to ask him if he was okay. He responded: Okay so far.
Some things take time to develop. We are off the slippery slope and in moral free fall, and free falls have a certain destiny, though they take a little time to become apparent.
Take a look at The Netherlands - this social experiment was tried there long before Massachusetts and the consequences are immense. No good can come of this travesty.Only time will tell, but 3 years and no problems so far.

God says otherwise.Good article, he is correct with his assessment that the world has not ended and no harm has come from the same-gender unions in the civil sphere.
No problems? How do you define problem?Only time will tell, but 3 years and no problems so far.
