Why is it that in some States in USA a higher species animal killer goes to the electric chair, but a lower species animal killer does not get as much as a fine!!!

That is arrogant hypocracy. Regardless of species, either it is wrong to commit murder or it is not. But it cannot logically be both unless one is prepared to admit to being arrogant
That was some arrogant hypocracy…

To view animals and humans in the same plane in any discussion would be a mortal sin according to Christ’s Church. To say otherwise means you just started your own church.

Unless you are raising your own whole grain flour and beans somewhere you are contributing to the death of thousands of small rodents every year and millions of invertibres. Grain storage facilities trap/kill rodents. Even organic farmer release predator insect to devour the insects harmful to crops.

Is it wrong to kill animal intentionally?

When I was in high school, I had a group of classmates who loved to kill lizards, insects, etc. Once there was a lizard in my classroom, and they deliberately used the leg of a chair to crush its head. It seems that they really enjoyed it.

I’m not talking abt mosquito or flies. Though for ants, usually I place them in the more appropriate place rather than kill them. But now I try to prevent them coming to my kitchen. 😃

Any opinion?
yes it is a sin to kill an animal intentionally unless it is used for food. it is cruel and it is rotten. iam a true animal lover, and
i cannot stand cruelty. sorry for the rant, but this is a subject that really gets to me. as far as iam concerned, there ought to be heavier penalties for those who deliberately harm animals.

anyone or anything thing that is harmed physically or mentally to me deserves the toughest prison sentence possible.

animals are God’s creation, and imagine how it hurts Him when people are cruel to His creation. It hurts Him when we are cruel and mean to others and animals.

What about putting down a dog that is suffering? Is this a sin? Tim
that is different. it would be cruel to let an animal suffer needlessly. there is no law i believe from God stating that we cannot put down an animal when it is suffering terribly.

Dogs do not understand why they are suffering. My beagle has arthritis and if the vet thought that his pain was too great, I would euthanize him. My little dog can not understand the pain he is suffering, all he knows is that he hurts.😦 Luckily, this is constant pain yet.

It would be cruel to let an animal suffer.

I can understand why some people would avoid meat due to the cruelty of modern meat packaging plants but I am always amazed when vegetarians claim that they are not responsible for the death of animals or that they don’t eat meat because they don’t believe in taking life. If I am not mistaken, don’t rodents and insects die when the farmer plows his field in preparation to plant vegtables?

Wow. I guess I should go to confession then, for taking that mouse who’s leg got caught in my trap and dispatching it.

Please people. If you eat meat, you should be able to kill the animal you eat with your own hands. If not, you are acting like a hypocrite (vegans excepted!).

I think it is one thing to swat a fly with the purpose of getting rid of it and quote another to inflict torture on a creature just for the fun of it. I would never swat a fly and then proceed to torture it. I have to wonder about people who do those kind of things that you mentioned. They are missing something in their soul…IMO.

No, I disagree. I eat meat and I would never want to be the one to put the animal to death. Some animals are put on this earth to provide food for us…that doesn’t mean I would want to be the one to take its life. When they are killed I would hope it would be fast and humanely. There is nothing hypocritical in that at all.

I feel the same way. And if I had to do the killing myself, I would end up a vegetarian.

I see nothing wrong with using non-enadangered-species animals for food, killing insects that could harm us, or killing an animal that presents an immediate threat to our lives. But killing an animal for no good reason (like the OP’s example of the classmate and the lizard) is truly evil and sick. I agree that those people are potentially dangerous to the rest of us.

By eating meat, even if you are not killing the animal yourself, you are creating the demand for the highly unnecessary torture, mutilation and slaughter of an animal. Buying the flesh of an animal, wrapped in cellophane because you think it tastes good is no different than killing an animal just for the “fun” of it.

Fawns bed down in grain fields and get caught up in tractor equipment also. They don’t move until your right on top of them. Tim

Killing for the sake of killing is a sin. God put every one of the creatures here for a purpose. Who are we to destroy God’s creation? It also stands to reason that those who truly love God would find beauty and purpose in His creation and not destroy it. I’m also going to include lakes, forests, rivers, etc. in the picture.
I try not to kill any living thing, but I must admit I did put a flea product on my cat and killed probably hundreds of fleas. 😦 I hope God does not judge me too harshly on that.

Celeste, this is a wonderful post!!! 👍

:blessyou:

I have a Purple Martin Colony of 60+ pair and growing. They will soon be returning from Brazil to do their annual mating and breeding. 👍

Martin’s rely entirely on humans for their housing as european house sparrows and european starlings have mistakenly and unwisely been introduced to america. These non native pests (house sparrows and european starlings) compete, steal and even kill martins for the housing.

Good martin landlords will shoot, trap and otherwise do what they can to eliminate these pests, as these non native pests also compete for housing and kill american bluebirds.

I consider myself a good Catholic, and I feel no remorse or sin in dispatching these pests without cruelty of course. They have bred and bred like rats of the sky they are, and they will soon wipe out purple martins and bluebirds without human intervention. The Purple Martin Conservation Society approves of eliminating these pests. 👍

there is a law where we live that one is allowed to exterminate them by calling a pest control company to do the job. i would prefer them to be trapped and re released in their own natural habitat. but well, i can’t do anything about the law.

the sparrows kill off canadian song birds to.

Killing or harming animals without a beneficial purpose in mind (ie food, threat to human health/safety(pests in a house would fall under that category), education, experimentation(if there is no other way to experiment)) is wrong. I don’t have a problem with eating meat; hopefully the animal was killed humanly without needless suffering. Think about this: if we didn’t raise animals like cattle and hogs for food, and we were all veggitarians, the farmers would want to kill them all off because they would be a pest to farms growing food for humans. A lot of animals are only alive because humans need them. I’ve been to beef and dairy farms, they’re treated really well.

Agreed. Non-native species can be killed at anytime by any means necessary be it poison, gun, or trap. That is the law in my state. That includes creatures like starlings, carp, zebra mussles, japanese beetles, ash bores, feral cats, feral hogs.

Someone has to right the wrongs of human intervention in our country.

I’m surprised you listed feral cats!😦 Feral cats are the offspring of domesticated cats that have been let out of peoples homes’, perhaps they’ve escaped or more likely were thrown out and because they were unspayed and unneutered they reproduced. I’m sorry but I’m a proponent of TNR, Trap Neuter and Return of these cats to their colonies. They can sometimes be tamed, as I’ve tamed and socialized several into loving housecats. Usually it takes much patience and because of not enough homes they are best off in their feral colonies with a caretaker providing food and care.

As far as killing non native species, the domesticated cat is not native to the US, it was brought over from Europe during the early settlements. Should we therefore kill all cats? 😦

The horse also is not native to the Americas., it was brought over from Europe in the 15th century. Its domestication had a profound impact on the native Americans. Much like the feral cats, wild horses still run in the west. Various organizations have adoption programs available to try to adopt out these beautiful animals rather than turn them into the glue factories.

Your quote as far as killing by any means whether by poison, gun or trap has a potential for error. If you do HAVE to kill, make sure it is done HUMANELY. The animal did nothing wrong to you. There is no reason to inflict needless pain and suffering.
