So, does Scripture say King David’s son was in Heaven? Or does the translated word actually mean Sheol, or something else.
Which son? He had a few of them! OT term would be Sheol which you go down to- not up.A belief in a happy afterlife and a belief in resurrection don’t come into full fruition until around the time of the Maccabees-the Intertestament Period( the time between the testaments) Sheol has much in common with the Greek belief of a shadowy afterlife as portrayed in the OdysseySo, does Scripture say King David’s son was in Heaven? Or does the translated word actually mean Sheol, or something else.
My mistake, David’s child was born already. Though it still an innocent infant, just like an unborn baby.Yeah, it certainly makes you reconsider whether God really cares as much about the rights of the unborn as people say he does, considering he snuffed out the life of David’s child for something David did.
You speak but have no knowledgeMy mistake, David’s child was born already. Though it still an innocent infant, just like an unborn baby.
EEEk -it wasn’t clearEEk! The one who died because of David’s sin??![]()
I corrected my mistake, I don’t know why you’re so upset. You speak but have no knowledge
This is much in tone with the ideas of the day- sins of the father are visited on the children etc. Ideas of vicarious punishment start to shift slowly but they do shift. It starts to really change under the prophets particularly EzekielMy mistake, David’s child was born already. Though it still an innocent infant, just like an unborn baby.
So God’s ideas of morality change? He bases them on the ideas of the day? This is much in tone with the ideas of the day- sins of the father are visited on the children etc. Ideas of vicarious punishment start to shift slowly but they do shift. What happened to the child after death? Did the soul of the child go to heaven or hell?My mistake, David’s child was born already. Though it still an innocent infant, just like an unborn baby.
If you’re asking me, I don’t know. What would the significance be either way? What happened to the child after death? Did the soul of the child go to heaven or hell?
Are you kidding? If the child was cast into hell it would indeed be cruel and unjust wouldn’t it?If you’re asking me, I don’t know. What would the significance be either way?
Yeah, it certainly makes you reconsider whether God really cares as much about the rights of the unborn as people say he does, considering he snuffed out the life of David’s child for something David did.
So do you consider it unjust to go to heaven? My mistake, David’s child was born already. Though it still an innocent infant, just like an unborn baby.
So if I killed a baby that had just been baptized, that would be a good thing, because the baby would go to heaven?I just got the idea that you were saying that the death of a child would make you think “God really cares as much about the rights of the unborn as people say he does”. If the soul of the child was taken into heaven, why would you think God didn’t care? Do you think going to heaven is a bad thing? Something unjust? I just don’t understand your logic if you do. Perhaps you didn’t intend this meaning, that’s why I’m asking.
So do you consider it unjust to go to heaven?
NO… it would be a bad thing… because GOD is the one who decides who goes to heaven not you… that the baby goes to heaven is because of God’s will not yours… in this case your will would be evil…So if I killed a baby that had just been baptized, that would be a good thing, because the baby would go to heaven?
Why would my will be evil? I am performing the act with the intention of ensuring the baby will go to heaven. Is that evil?NO… it would be a bad thing… because GOD is the one who decides who goes to heaven not you… that the baby goes to heaven is because of God’s will not yours… in this case your will would be evil…
God provides and God takes away as he wishes… he is GOD… He decides when everyone on EARTH is born and when they ALL die… not just babies…
God says murder is wrong. Why would my will be evil? I am performing the act with the intention of ensuring the baby will go to heaven. Is that evil?
I know, I wasn’t saying I would actually perform such an act(especially since I’m not even sure I believe in heaven), but if it’s wrong to murder people, why does God do it?God says murder is wrong.
So doing that might land you in hell. However, your action would help the children. So in a way you are acting selflessly and doing what is best for them.God says murder is wrong.
